Received: Portland Brewing Noble Scot

This came in from Portland Brewing yesterday: Their fall seasonal, Noble Scot Scottish-style Ale. Available through October 15 in 22-ounce and 12-ounce bottles (as well as on draft), it’s 6.5% abv, brewed with “2-Row Pale, Smoked, Carapils, Roasted Barley, Melanoidin” malts and Northern Brewer, East Kent Goldings and Willamette hops. Should be a nicely malty and hopefully slightly smoky amber ale. Good style for this time of year (the mornings have gotten nippy!) so I’ll enjoy … Continue reading →

Portland Brewing Oregon Honey Beer

I received two bottles of Portland Brewing’s Oregon Honey Beer a little while back (a 12-ounce and a 22-ounce), their summer seasonal that had not been brewed for the past five years or so. And going into the … Continue reading →

Portland Brewing ZigZag River Lager

I’ve had lagers on my mind lately; perhaps as warm weather and summer approaches, perhaps as the pendulum is swinging back from the high-gravity, extreme-flavor end of things, I’m craving more and more a clean, crisp lager to knock back. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m still all about the floral and fruity IPAs and such!) Portland Brewing’s ZigZag River Lager fits that bill pretty well. Recently promoted to a year-round beer, they sent me samples a couple weeks ago … Continue reading →

Received: Portland Brewing ZigZag River Lager

A tidy little package containing two 12-ounce bottles and one 22-ounce bottle of Portland Brewing’s ZigZag River Lager arrived today. It’s moving to a year-round release schedule and I imagine will be a welcome warm-weather beer (whenever the warmer weather kicks in for good).
