Oregon Beer, Monkless Belgian AlesThe first thing you need to do today is vote. If you haven’t already, go vote now. This post will still be here when you get back.

If you already voted (I did, over a week ago), then you deserve a beer. Fortunately there are some opportunities to drink beer today! Here’s the roundup of Oregon beer news and events for this Election Day, Tuesday, November 6. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as well, so check back often.

Monkless Belgian Ales (Bend): The brewery’s winter/holiday seasonal, Friar’s Festivus, is released today, tapping at 3pm: “Come all ye Grinches and Santas — the wait is nearly over! This big decadent Gold-Medal-Winning Winter Quad will come back to grace our taps on Tuesday, November 6th. Friar’s Festivus is a true winter warmer in the style of a spiced Belgian Quad. Dried fruits, caramel maltiness, & winter spices bring this dark beauty to life! Limited bottles & No Growler Fills.”

Conversion Brewing (Lebanon) has its monthly Head to Head beer pairing/tasting event tonight starting at 7pm: “We will pit two beers in the same style against each other and see who comes out on top. This is a blind beer tasting with food pairing and we will have an open discussion about the beers and what we like about them. Cost is $10 and will include 2 samples of Doppelbock, special food pairing samples of dark chocolate cake, and a small pour of a Conversion beer. Must be 21.”

Modern Times Beer (Portland) is hosting Belmont Ltd. Vol. 2 today—a beer tasting event centered around “Funk”: “BELMONT LTD. VOL 2: Funk. The second installment of our PDX beer-centric hangout sessions will feature an assortment of extensively fruited, deliciously funky adult beverages. Tickets are not required, so if you’re in the mood to sample some tasty beers, Belmont is the place to be on 11/6. These libational masterpieces will be on offer for a flight or crowler (limited) all day:
-Pescespada (mixed-culture beer w/ pineapples, coconuts, & mangoes–collab w/ Almanac)
-One Million Tomorrows w/ Nectarines & Marionberries (red wine barrel-aged sour saison)
-Galactic Filaments w/ Hibiscus & Lemon (funky Witbier)
-The Fruitening w/ Black Currants & Zinfandel Grape Must (barrel-aged super-fruited sour)”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at all Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint sold gets donated to a local non-profit organization. In Bend for the month of November, the Pub and the Tasting Room are benefiting ONDA, the Oregon Natural Desert Association. In Portland, the Pub is benefiting Oregon Brewshed Alliance. So after you vote today, head over to Deschutes to help out with a pint or three!

Worthy Brewing (Bend) has its own charitable Pint Night taking place this evening starting at 5pm: “Come down to Worthy on November 6th to support the Mt. Bachelor National Ski Patrol. $1 of each pint purchased will be donated to help fund the Ski Patrol. Come early to buy a raffle ticket for your chance to win a lot of cool prizes donated by our great sponsors!”

Big, and unfortunately unhappy, news from Portland Brewing today: “Portland Brewing made the difficult decision to close its restaurant location today. This is bittersweet news in a year where we successfully relaunched our brand, are seeing stronger sales trends, launched our New Way IPA, and earned our 5th medal for MacTarnahan’s at the Great American Beer Festival. Portland is a challenging restaurant market, so we made the choice to focus on what we do best; brewing & selling great beer through our sales team, wholesaler partners and retailers.” Read full post here.

Gigantic Brewing (Portland) is releasing a Hazy IPA brewed with homebrewer Adam Lund, today at 5pm: “I won the best of show in the Heart of Cascadia homebrew competition and was able to help brew my batch of beer at Gigantic. The beer will be released on November 6th. Looking forward to how it turned out! Special thanks to Corrie Heath for putting in all the work for organizing beer comps and also everybody at Gigantic for letting me come crash their brew day.”

Portland’s Belmont Station continues its Days of Darkness celebration with AleSmith Brewing today: “Our Days of Darkness celebration continues with a Speedway Grand Prix Event. We will be tapping AleSmith’s famed Speedway Stout along side some pretty cool variants. The variants will include:
Vietnamese Speedway – w/ Vietnamese coffee
Mokasida Speedway – w/ Ethiopian coffee
Jamaican Blue Mountain Speedway – w/ Jamaican coffee
Hawaiian Speedway – w/ Ka’u Coffee, Coconut, and Vanilla
Celestial Dawn Speedway – w/ NOLA Celestial Dawn coffee”

Eugene’s Ninkasi Brewing, Philomath’s Nectar Creek Mead, and Corvallis’ Caves Bier & Kitchen are teaming up tonight for Pints for a Cause at Caves from 6 to 8pm: “Join representatives from Ninkasi Brewing and Nectar Creek at Caves for a fundraiser on behalf of Corvallis Fire Union Local 2240. We will be donating $1 per pint of Ninkasi and Nectar Creek sold during the event, as well as 10% of total sales for the night!”

Oregon City Brewing has its Charity Pint Night this evening starting at 5pm, benefiting veterans: “‘Our focus has been and always will be this: to provide financial support to those who have served in our Armed Forces and their families. These individuals have volunteered their lives in the preservation, protection and future of The United States and all of its citizens. For this we are grateful.’ -Nation of Patriots. Come down and help us support our Veterans and their families. Cheers Pioneers!” $1 from every pint sold will be donated.

Vagabond Brewing (Salem) has a new sour/wild beer on tap: “Brett C is new on the draft list. It’s a farmhouse saison made with European malts and Noble Hops, that was fermented with a strain of Brettanomyces yeast known for its fruity flavor profile. Expect a little dryness with a mildly tart finish.”
