Last week Deschutes Brewery issued a press release revealing an overall brand refresh on its packaging (“Deschutes Brewery Doubles Down on its Brand”), starting with the new Red Chair NWPA design already on the shelves. Unsurprisingly, I have thoughts about this, as beer branding is a topic that generates discussion, … Continue reading
Three bottles of this year’s version of Red Chair NWPA by Deschutes Brewery arrived yesterday, sporting the newest look in the company’s latest brand refresh. That brand refresh I have some thoughts on (but will cover later), but as always I look forward to drinking the beer, and seeing how … Continue reading
The latest in Double Mountain Brewery‘s seasonal cider lineup arrived this week: Perry, fermented from 100% pear juice. According to accompanying release, this was created with juice from Starkrimson and Comice pears, all sourced locally from Hood River of course.
This week I received a four-pack of North Coast Brewing‘s first seasonal of the year, Beachmaster Imperial IPA. This is a 9% ABV, 100 IBU behemoth, very on-brand for the brewery. Here’s the press release that accompanied: North Coast Brewing Company, an independent craft brewery producing exceptional, award-winning beers, is … Continue reading
Arrived this week, cans of Rogue Ales Outta Line West Coast IPA and Batsquatch Hazy IPA. The Outta Line is one I coincidentally just sampled earlier this week, and it’s pretty good; I haven’t tried Batsquatch yet. And the other day I dinged Deschutes Brewery for its new can design … Continue reading
Deschutes Brewery is joining the low-carb, light lager market with its latest year-round canned beer: Da Shootz! The beer has been available on draft for a short while already and cans are hitting the market; on Friday I received two from the brewery. Think “lifestyle lager” along the lines of … Continue reading
Late last week the newest seasonal bottled beer from Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery arrived: Brut IPA. It’s available in the brewery’s refillable 500ml bottles and I have to say it’s the most elegant packaging of the various brut IPA’s I’ve seen so far. It’s also the first I’ve heard … Continue reading
I stopped in at Crux Fermentation Project earlier this week for an assignment, and was impressed with the new construction addition recently completed, which looks to have doubled the amount of indoor seating as well as blend in pretty seamlessly to the older space. While there I ran into marketing … Continue reading
Last week before the holiday weekend, a bottle of Dry Cider from Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery arrived, showcasing the brewery’s 12-ounce refillable bottle. Double Mountain has been a proponent of and using refillable bottles since 2012, but until now those have been 500ml bottles. Here are some details from … Continue reading
Two big beers from Harpoon Brewery out of Massachusetts arrived at the house yesterday: MacGuffin, a wee heavy, and Catamount Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter. These are new seasonals to Harpoon this year and about them the brewery tells me: MacGuffin: A member of Harpoon’s 100 Barrel Series, this beer balances … Continue reading
