Received: Crux Gated Community Brut IPA and Cocoa Stout

I stopped in at Crux Fermentation Project earlier this week for an assignment, and was impressed with the new construction addition recently completed, which looks to have doubled the amount of indoor seating as well as blend in pretty seamlessly to the older space. While there I ran into marketing manager Jason Randles, who gave me a six-pack of freshly-canned Gated Community Brut IPA, as well as a bottle of this year’s Cocoa Stout.

The Gated Community, in particular, showcases the new can format the brewery is using: logo’d blanks that are wrapped with what is essentially a sticker for the label. These are different from the full-can wraps that were in use previously (and that many other breweries use, as it’s economical and still looks good). It’s a handsome-looking can, and Jason tells me if you peel the sticker there’s an Easter egg beneath.

Of course the beer itself is pretty important too, so I’ll have thoughts on that as I drink it.
