Oregon Beer, Belmont StationHere’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, July 19, winding down the week. As always I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news and events as I find them, so check back from time to time for updates.

Belmont Station (Portland): Puckerfest 12 starts today! Belmont’s annual celebration of sour will run through next Tuesday the 24th, and features a stellar lineup of sour, tart, wild, funky beers on tap along with a few special events along the way. Today’s launch event is “Cherries & Heavy Metal Puckerfest Kickoff”: “We kick things off with some tasty krieks and other delights from Double Mountain, and, as is tradition, Matt Swihart and friends will be bringing fresh cherries for us to nibble on. And Denver’s true Heavy Metal brewery, TRVE, will be in-house, sharing their incredible sours and hanging out with us! Look for this all to happen around 5-8 PM.” Be there!

McMenamins Kennedy School (Portland) has its monthly limited-edition beer tasting tonight from 5 to 7pm, featuring Dragonflies Blackberry Kölsch. Brewers Brian Riley and Ryan Lund will be on hand to talk about the beer, always a fun opportunity to be able to chat with the beer’s creators.

ABV Public House and Laurelwood Brewing have a new collaboration beer release today: MainBrew Light. This summer ale is 5% alcohol by volume. The release party takes place from 6 to 9pm.

The BeerMongers (Portland) is hosting a Half Acre Beer night today from 5 to 8pm: “Hey all. Exciting news! Half Acre sent out some delicious beer from Chicago and we’ve got what looks like a killer tap list for the occasion.” Featuring five beers on draft, and six in cans, it’s sure to be a fairly Chicago-influenced night.

Stickmen Brewing (Lake Oswego) has a new hazy DIPA on tap now: “The forecast is showing a 100% chance of Mosaic storms. This all-Mosaic hazy DIPA has a torrent of hop flavor with loaded with berry and tropical fruit notes. Estimated accumulation: between 4-5lb/bbl. “Cloudy with a Chance of Mosaic” is now on tap at both locations.”

Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery has released its latest Kriek vintages in bottles this week. According to Brewpublic: “Due to the unexpected colder than normal winter of 2016/2017, both the 2016 Devil’s Kriek and 2016 Tahoma Kriek developed slower than what was expected. Due to these conditions the brewery held on to the beer to age for one extra year. This patience proved to allow both beers to fully develop the complexity of the wild fermentation.” These are Belgian-style sour ales brewed with cherries; Devil’s Kriek uses nearly 400 pounds of local Bing and Van cherries, while Tahoma Kriek uses Rainier cherries. Bottles are on the shelves now.

Baerlic Brewing (Portland) has a new beer release today at 4pm: All Gold Everything English Summer Ale. “Originally we brewed this beer with Bailey’s Taproom as their 1st Haus Bier Collaboration back in January of 2017. Seeing as it’s been all hot as hell out lately, we decided to bring this easy drinking and low ABV beer back to life so we have something to cool us off after a steamy day in the brewery. All Gold Everything is a British-style Golden Ale brewed with pale and Munich malts for a delicate sweetness and dryhopped with Oregon grown Willamette hops for a delicate floral character.”

Portland’s Look Long Brewing has a new beer out, Gnome Rogue Saison: “At 7.3% ABV, this is a sneak-attack of a beer. Don’t let its smooth, rye-spiced drinkability deceive you. Stan made this one as a special small batch, so come get it before it’s gone!”

Sunriver Brewing has its 6th Anniversary Double IPA on tap! “It takes a special beer to commemorate six years of Sunriver Brewing Company and this double IPA gets the job done. This hop monster assaults the palate with layers of lush tropical fruit, ripe citrus, peach and melon and a little kick of earthy-resinous pine. Hops: Chinook, Galaxy, Eldorado, Mosaic, Falconer’s Flight. **Available at both pubs for the rest of July and most of August!” I expect this one to be a pretty great beer, don’t miss out!

Sparky’s Brewing (Salem) has a new beer release today: “Sparky’s is ecstatic to announce the release of our new Imperial IPA the “Circuit Breaker” This brew has been dry hopped with Galaxy & Citra, sitting at an IBU of 85 and an ABV of 10%! This beer is shockingly delicious. Join us for a glass & some BBQ specials tonight at 6pm for BBQ Nation @ Sparky’s!”
