Oregon Beer, Ferment BrewingHere’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, April 11, which I’ll be updating throughout the day as usual, so make sure to check back often for the latest. As always if you have any news to share, please feel free to contact me and I can get that posted as well.

If you haven’t had a chance to try Hood River’s new Ferment Brewing yet, Loyal Legion in Portland is hosting a long weekend showcase and tap takoever of Ferment’s beers starting today. “Starting April 11th with a kickoff party from 5-8pm, and ending April 14th, Loyal Legion is showcasing Ferment Brewing Co.’s signature and premium beers. Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene): The brewery’s Pints for a Cause today benefits Oregon Horse Rescue, taking place at Ninkasi’s taproom: “Come on out to the Ninkasi Brewing Company on Thursday, April 11th for an all-day fundraiser to benefit Oregon Horse Rescue where $1 from every pint sold will go to Oregon Horse Rescue! Enjoy your brew while listening to live music from 5-8 pm by local band Walking Trainsong, play a round or two of horse shoes, or bid on an artisan, hand-made Oregon quilt. We can’t wait to chat with you about the horses and our work — cheers!”

Portland’s Upright Brewing turned 10 this year, and The Bier Stein today is hosting the Eugene 10 year anniversary celebration all day long: “In celebration of this newly 10 year old brewery, we are tapping their Foeder Doppelbock, Sherry Finish Vanilla Quad, and 10 Year Anniversary Saison. These beers are only available at select locations across Oregon. We are honored to be included on this short list, and the only place in the Eugene/Springfield area where these brews can be found. While you’re enjoying these beers, you can also enter to win some great prizes by simply posting about Upright beer on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale) is hosting its monthly limited-edition beer tasting today from 5 to 8pm at the Distillery Bar. Nothing listed for what the beer will be, but the Edgefield brewers have been cranking out specialty IPAs so it’s possible you’ll see something along those lines tonight.

De Garde Brewing (Tillamook) is releasing a new beer today: “Today, we are releasing a three year blend from our spontaneous barrels. Our good friend Ehren from Mikkeller Baghaven came to visit and helped to choose the composition, tasting from numerous barrels and providing his valued insight. We are proud to have worked with him to blend this beer. The Backyard is bright and crisp, with the impression of dried citrus characteristics, mushroomy and foresty funk, and a lingering Brett complexity. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

Vertigo Brewing (Hillsboro) has its Harvest Hefe on tap today, which I gather was on hiatus: “It has been quite a while, but today our Harvest Hefe is pouring again. An American-style hefeweizen, this is a light, easy drinking beer. Our bottle sale continues to day as well. Taproom opens at 4:00, hope to see you soon.”

Spider City Brewing (Bend) has a new hazy beer out: “Get Out of my Blueberry Garden, Ya Damn Sneaky Deer! This blueberry version of the Sneaky Deer comes in at 8.2% & 30 IBU. We only have two kegs so get down here and have a pint before it sneaks away! We’ll be here from 2-8pm today!”

Santiam Brewing (Salem) is raising funds for the Willamette Humane Society today from 5:30 to 7:30pm: “Reminder that today we will be joined by the Willamette Humane Society with kittens from the shelter! They are too young to adopt yet but your interaction supports them as well as the $1 we donate to the WHS for every pint sold!”
