Oregon Beer, Lucky Labrador Brewing

Happy Friday! This is an abbreviated weekend beer news post as I’m not necessarily near the computer today, but here’s the general roundup of happenings for this weekend of the 8th. It’s also International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day today, part of International Women’s Day, so I’d love to find out what beers are being brewed—let me know if you know of any.

Friday, Mar. 8

The 22nd annual Lucky Lab Barleywine Festival returns to the Lucky Lab in Portland Friday and Saturday, bringing more than 70 barleywines to the Lab Beer Hall on NW Quimby. You’ll get 4 tickets and a tasting glass for $16, with additional tickets (good for a four ounce pour) costing $2.25. There will be both new and vintage barleywines rotating throughout the fest, and it’s definitely a big way to kick off your weekend!

And we’re pretty stoked about it so we wanted to throw a party to celebrate. Come down to BBC this Friday to grab some of your own and listen to some LIVE MUSIC by The G-Bots from 6:00-8:30. See you at the pub!” This perennial favorite has long been available in bottles but now it’s even more portable in pounder cans.

Sample 20+ different ciders, with special ciders pulled from the keg cellar to commemorate the occasion. We’ll also be debuting the draft release of our newest seasonal cider Pineapple Rosé! Hitting shelves in 6-pack cans in early April, this juicy, pineapple cider is naturally pink from a touch of blueberry juice.” You’ll need to purchase tickets; $20 gets you the commemorative glass and 14 drink tickets.

The 5th annual Baker’s Dozen Coffee Beer & Doughnut Fest takes place at Ecliptic Brewing—and it’s sold out. Maybe you can get in at the door, but if so it’ll cost you $35.

The Pints for Polio pub walk takes place in Bend on Saturday, starting at the Deschutes Brewery Public House downtown at 2pm: “Pints for Polio is Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 2pm-6pm. All participants meet at Deschutes Brewery Bend Public House Bond Street (upstairs). For $25 each participant gets a commemorative metal pint cup, a map of participating pubs, and a 6oz taste of great beer at over 15 locations downtown, on Galveston Ave, and in the Box Factory area! This is the 8th annual Pints for Polio Pub Walk. Over the last 7 years, we have raised over $60,000 to eradicate Polio – and that has been matched 2 to 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for over $180,000 towards Polio eradication worldwide! We have sponsors covering all of our expenses, so 100% of the proceeds will be donated to PolioPlus to fund the elimination of polio for children all over the world – with your help, we can wipe Polio off the face of the earth, forever! We also educate the local community on the importance of childhood vaccinations.”
