Oregon Beer, Little Beast Brewing

Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Wednesday, March 6, rounding up items and events from around the state. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day so check back occasionally, and if you have any news to share as well, please let me know.

Little Beast Brewing (Portland) has a double release today at its SE Division beer garden, featuring Wild Island (a Hazy Brett DIPA) and Rhūs Jūs (Sumac Elderflower Sour): “Wild Island is a collaboration with Moksa Brewing from the Sacramento area. The beer is our first canned beer and we’re only making 90 cases! The beer is kettle hopped with Citra and dry hopped with Simcoe and Pacific Gem hops for a juicy guava/pineapple juicy character that the hazy style is well known for. While this style is normally fermented with an ale yeast that produces fruity esters and ferments in less than two weeks, we chose Brettanomyces claussenii and a proprietary Brett strain that dried out the beer during its three-month-long fermentation. Rhūs Jūs is a sour ale with foraged sumac, elderflower, and elderberries from the Hood River and Tualatin River Valleys. After aging for 9 months the beer has notes of honeysuckle, tart apple and lemon. It will be available in limited bottles and draft.” Starting at 5pm.

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is welcoming Breakside Brewery for the release party for The Oligarch tonight from 5 to 8pm: “Breakside is releasing their Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout – “The Oligarch” and we’re hosting a release party on Wednesday, March 6th!
