Sunriver Brewing releasing 16-ounce limited series cans

Sunriver Brewing 16-ounce can

Sunriver Brewing dropped the news at the end of last week of its upcoming series of beers packaged in 16-ounce cans. The cans will be available in time for the opening of its Oakway Pub in Eugene in early April. Here’s the press release accompanying the announcement:

Sunriver Brewing Co. will be releasing their first 16oz cans on April 6th. The beer is an endless rotating series of Limited Release options, similar to what they have been doing on draft over the years. The can release will be part of Sunriver Brewing’s Grand Opening Party at their new Oakway Pub location in Eugene, Oregon.

“We’re so ready to fill these beautiful 16 ounce cans with awesome, independent craft beer,” says Brett Thomas, Director of Brewing Operations. “The product coming through our canning line is top notch with regards to packaged beer quality. Minimal exposure to light and minimal oxygen pickup creates a truly superior drinking experience. The brewery team is looking forward to presenting some absolutely killer beers in this new format – our favorites like Sunny D, Vermont Vacation and Escape from Escondido, as well as some totally new brews.”

The series will have very limited quantities for small retail outlets and will consist of rotating most of the beer in Sunriver Brewing’s 2019 IPA Factory series. Other Sunriver Brewing favorites like Cocoa Cow Chocolate Milk Stout will also be available in these 16oz cans. In the Sunriver Brewing pubs you will find all of these plus a few extra releases including beers from their 2019 Double IPA Factory series that are exclusive to Sunriver Brewing’s pubs.

This should be a fun addition to the Sunriver lineup, though I will note that Cocoa Cow is currently available in 500ml bottles as well, so I’m not clear if these will supplement the existing bottles or replace them. I expect the cans of the pub specialties (the hazy IPAs in particular) will be quite popular.
