Oregon Beer, Cascade Brewing

More snow today, on this penultimate day of February, and the beer news goes on. Stay warm! Here’s the news for this Wednesday the 27th; as usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the day so check back in from time to time.

Cascade Brewing (Portland) kicks off its 8th annual Sour Fruit Fest today, showcasing more than four dozen sour fruit beers from the brewery at both its locations; there will be at least 25 beers on tap at the Barrel House, and 20 on tap at the Lodge. There’s no admission fee, and you’ll pay as you go, with tasting costs additional (no detail on pricing). There will be headline beers each day, and today’s headliner is Pineapple Rosemary Sour. Get your sour on!

The Bier Stein (Eugene) is hosting the Eugene can release of pFriem Family Brewers‘ newly-available canned beers today starting at 5pm: “For the first time ever, pFriem Family Brewers is packaging their IPA and Pilsner in cans and we are honored to be the first folks in town to have them on our shelves! To celebrate this exclusive, defining moment in the world of craft beer, we are offering a discount of $2 off pFriem 6-packs for one night only! The first 50 people to purchase a 6-pack will receive a free pFriem glass with purchase. You can also enjoy samples of each beer fresh from the can and enter to win a giftcard to the pFriem tap house in Hood River!”

Bailey’s Taproom (Portland) is hosting a showcase of Fieldwork Brewing beers today from 5 to 8pm: “Join us next week to taste through some new beers from Fieldwork Brewing Company! We’ll be featuring the following on draught and hosting representatives from the brewery and distributor. Cheers!” Fieldwork is based in Berkeley, California.

Imperial Bottle Shop (Portland): The Alberta location is hosting Alesong Brewing for the Alesong winter beer release and Blender’s Circle (club) pickup today from 5 to 8pm: “We are very honored to host Alesong Brewing and Blending for their Portland winter beer release party! Come by to meet the Alesong team and try all four Alesong winter beer releases. It’ll be your only chance to try all four on draft in Portland.”

Tonight, the Horse Brass Pub in Portland is raising a pint for Jim Parker, an Oregon beer luminary who passed away recently (and who posthumously received the Oregon Beer Awards Hall of Fame award last night). From 6 to 9pm tonight stop by the Brass and pay your respects with a pint.

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro) has a limited-edition beer tasting tonight from 6 to 9pm. The featured beer isn’t listed but you’ll get a chance to chat with the brewers if you stop by to check it out.

Bend Brewing has a snow day special you’ll want to check out: “FREE BEER ALERT!! If you brave the weather today and come down to BBC & have 1 pint we will send you home with a FREE can of Sno’d In Winter Ale for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Limit 1 per customer and if we run out, we run out. Just ask your server or bartender!”
