Advent Beer Calendar 2019: Day 5: Revolution Brewing Fistmas Holiday Ale

December 5th is Repeal Day, commemorating the ratification of the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that repealed Prohibition in 1933. (It also happens to be Krampus night but this year I’m going with Repeal!) To celebrate the day, our Advent beer pick is aptly enough from Chicago’s Revolution Brewing, raising a fist in solidarity with repeal: Fistmas Holiday Ale.

Revolution is billed as Chicago’s largest independently-owned brewery, founded in 2010. The beers are themed following the “revolution” motif, and Fistmas is no exception. It’s 6.5% ABV and 31 IBUs, and the brewery says:

Our Holiday Red Ale is steeped with ginger and orange peel. It features notes of fresh-baked bread, caramel, and stone fruit along with holiday cheer.

Raise a glass of Fistmas to toast the Repeal of Prohibition today (and don’t forget to save some for Christmas too!). Of course if you aren’t able to get your fist on this beer, commemorating the day with any other beer (or wine, cider, mead, liquor) works too. Cheers to Repeal and merry Fistmas!
