Received: Hochstadter’s Slow & Low Rock and Rye

A bit of a break from beer with another (canned) cocktail which arrived yesterday, Hochstadter’s Slow & Low Rock and Rye. This is essentially a pre-mixed old fashioned cocktail made with rye whiskey, and I’m always willing to try and write about such things here.

Here’s a bit about Slow & Low from the PR I received:

Made with rye whiskey, local honey from Pennsylvania, navel oranges from Florida, angostura bitters, and a pinch of rock candy, Slow & Low is the perfect pre-bottled Old Fashioned. Simply open and serve over ice, or spice it up with an orange garnish, chop up with ice to make a Slow Cone or serve with a beer.

The cans are adorably small and about ideal to pair with a beer—I’ll need to find a couple of good options to try side-by-side. Among the swag, there’s also a can koozie, bandada, stickers, rolling papers, and a matchbook. I know “rolling papers” tend to make people think of rolling joints these days, but in this case it makes me think of old-time westerns, hand rolling cigarettes and drinking rye whiskey. (No idea if this is the intended imagery.)

Look for a review and beer pairing at some point hopefully soon.
