Oregon Beer, Hop Valley BrewingHappy Hump Day! I hope the week has been going well for you so far. Here’s the Oregon beer news for this Wednesday, September 26, pulling in the news and happenings from around the state. As usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the day, so keep revisiting for the latest.

Hop Valley Brewing (Springfield) is hosting its PINK Night fundraiser tonight at its Eugene location, taking place from 5 to 8pm: “Join us at our Brewery & Production Facility on 1st Ave. in the Whiteaker Neighborhood for PINK NIGHT to raise awareness around breast cancer with the Eugene/Springfield Chapter of the American Cancer Society. From 5-8pm on 9/19, 9/26 and 10/3, $1 from ALL beers of ANY style will be donated to ACS.”

Also in Eugene today, Beergarden continues its Oktoberfest celebration, and tonight features a tapping with Viking Braggot Company, pouring “Fest Beer, Valkyrie Belgian amber along with Beowulf brown.” With specialty glassware, German-themed food, live music, and other activities, Beergarden has the oompah spirit.

And Portland’s Belmont Station is celebrating Oktoberfest through the 7th as well, pouring special Oktoberfest beers and serving up sausages from the Monk’s Deli food cart. Check the station’s online tap list to plan your festing accordingly!

Bridge 99 Brewery (Bend) has two fresh hop beers newly on tap today: “Fresh Hop Chinook IPA and Fresh Hop Cascade IPA. We sourced our hops from Tumalo Hops Company which was the first commercial hop farm in Central Oregon since the early 20th Century. Bridge 99 Brewery buys 90% of the harvest from Tumalo Hops.”

Tonight is the return of the OMSI After Dark: Brewfest taking place at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland: “Science is brewing at the 8th annual OMSI After Dark: Brewfest. Don’t just drink beer, learn beer! Sample beers from local breweries while learning how beer is made, the variety of hops and enjoy some fun beer tricks while you’re at it!” With science demonstrations, activities, presentations, and of course a whole slew of breweries and cideries pouring their wares, it’s the coolest science night around. It runs from 6 to 10pm and costs $30 ($20 if you’re a member of OMSI).

McMenamins Hillsdale Brewery (Portland) has the company’s fall seasonal IPA on tap now: “What pairs better with this beautiful day than the flavors of honeydew and citrus? Now pouring White Tiger IPA at Hillsdale, Mcmenamins second seasonal IPA! We also have a just for fun White Tiger IPA stamp to go with it. So, come join us and enjoy the beautiful weather on the patio with a pint of delicious White Tiger IPA!”

Cascade Brewing (Portland) has its latest release out today: “Introducing the third release in our Sour Shake Series: Watermelon Rebellion, a blend of sour blond ales aged in rosé wine barrels for up to 15 months with a late infusion of fresh Hermiston watermelons, El Dorado hops and lactose. Ripe watermelon flavors are the highlight of this limited release, supported by the juicy stone fruit and melon notes of the hops and a rounded body from the lactose. Available on draft now!”

Last day of the Lompoc Tavern in Portland today: “Today is last call for Lompoc Tavern. Come by for a farewell pint, and we’ll see you soon at 5th Quadrant, Sidebar, and Oaks Bottom Public House.”

Wild Ride Brewing (Redmond) has its latest fresh hop out today: “Journey to Planet Fresh Hop Pale Ale now available! Try all three of our 2018 fresh hop beers beginning Wednesday in the Tap Room. Cheers to another special season of fresh hops!”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): The Bend Tasting Room has a new pilot brewery small-batch beer out today: “Name: Squatch Grog Double IPA. 8.6% ABV, 73 IBU. Brewers Notes: A big beer featuring heavy doses of tropical and fruity hops including Mosaic, Sabro, Lemon Drop and Vic’s Secret.”
