Oregon Beer: Eugene Beer WeekHappy Monday! This first week of June is getting busy—by this weekend, there will be three different city Beer Weeks running simultaneously, which might make June the busiest beer month of the year for Oregon just based on number of events alone. Here’s the roundup of news and events for this June 3, and as always I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so keep checking back.

Eugene Beer Week begins today! This annual celebration of the Willamette Valley beer scene runs all week through Sunday, June 9, and is the first of three beer weeks kicking off this week. I’ll be rounding up the events of each day, starting with:

Belmont Station (Portland) welcomes Astoria’s Buoy Beer for a tasting of Buoy’s new Brett Saison: “Remember a few months back when we had Buoy Beer Company join us to celebrate the release of their two new beers, Brett Saison and Dry Hopped Brett Saison?? Well, they’ve decided to make this delicious series a trio by adding cranberries! We will have Jessyka from Buoy along with some of the crew in the bottle shop for a tasting and we want you to be one of the first ones to try this new beer!” This takes place from 5 to 8pm.

McMenamins Chapel Pub (Portland) has a Friends & Family Night fundraiser today starting at 5pm, where 50% of all sales for the night are donated to a local organization. Tonight’s beneficiary is Northwest Villages. It’s a good evening to swing by and help out with a beer and a meal.

Bevel Craft Brewing (Bend) has new beer out today: “Third Run IPA – 6.6%. The 3rd variation of our flagship IPA, this time brewed with Simcoe and Ekuanot (formerly Equinox). This run has citrus notes up front with hints of piney, earthy flavors and moves to a more bitter finish than it’s predecessors. What do you think? Which run has been your favorite so far?”

Double Mountain Brewery (Hood River) today announced the release of a new IPA, Basic Rights IPA, out in time for Pride Month: “With the success and fun of painting rainbow hops in front of Double Mountain taprooms, we decided to make a stronger statement in support of LGBTQ rights this year with a Pride Beer. Joining forces with local artist and pub favorite, Mark Nilsson, we created a greatly balanced IPA that would feature Mark’s talents and utilize a portion of the profits for donation and partnership with Basic Rights Oregon. Basic Rights Oregon advocates ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive, politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion, and achieving policy victories on issues throughout Oregon for youth, racial and LGBTQ justice. Available in refillable 500ML bottles and on draft at our Hood River Taproom, SE Portland Taproom in the Woodstock neighborhood, and throughout the Northwest.” It’s 7.2% ABV with 58 IBUs and is one you should definitely drink a lot of.

Cascade Lakes Brewing (Redmond) has a Kolsch style ale on tap now: “Brewed seriously with less than serious things in mind, this crisp, refreshing, bright, golden brew is a perfect companion to all summer hobbies. This easy-drinking traditional German ale is a summer go-to for all your summer adventures. Whether it was a hike, bike ride, or round of golf; you earned this one (or two).”
