Oregon Beer: Tin BucketHere’s the news in Oregon beer for this Wednesday, May 8. As usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Portland’s Tin Bucket is turning 6 this week, and tonight at The Upper Lip above Bailey’s Taproom they are celebrating with the TinLip Kickoff Party: “We are turning 6 and that means we will party once again at The Upper Lip. Tin Bucket takes over the tap list and will have some special surprises throughout the night. Come celebrate with us!” The party starts at 5pm and goes until closing.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting Modern Times for a beer tasting tonight from 5 to 8pm: “Join Modern Times for a tasting in the shop that features Telesto IPA, featuring loads of Simcoe and Amarillo with just a touch of rye. Here’s what they will be sampling: Telesto IPA, Black House Oatmeal Coffee Stout, Fortunate Islands IPA, Fruitlands Tropical Fruit Gose, Orderville IPA, and Booming Rollers IPA. Of course, all will be available in the shop to take home, and we will be pouring their Abaddon Helles in the biercafe!”

McMenamins Thompson Brewery (Salem) has its monthly limited-edition beer tasting today from 5 to 7pm, with brewer Jen Kent on hand to answer questions and talk beer. I don’t know what special beer will be pouring tonight but I’m sure it will be an interesting one!

Little Beast Brewing (Portland) is releasing its Field Folk Saison today starting at 5pm at the Little Beast Beer Garden: “We’re releasing our next rendition of Field Folk – our Provisional Saison series of beers! The latest is Field Folk IV, a mix of unique grains and mixed cultures. What makes this batch so special is that we have employed 3 completely different yeast Genera to produce fruity, earthy, and funky aromas and flavors. Pilsner malt, whole oats, toasted rice, and kamut all fermented with Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, and Hanseniaspora yeasts make for a truly unique Saison. We will also have Field Folk III on draft and Field Folk II in bottles (limited 144 bottles total).”

Several Oregon breweries (at least) are honoring teachers today for the Teacher Appreciation Week Day of Action, including:

McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop (Portland) is hosting a bottle release of Rose Mead from Author Mead from 4 to 6pm today. “Author Mead is releasing bottles of their new Rose Mead today. So come on by and grab a sample or four and try something new an refreshing. Cheers!”

Modern Times Beer has Upside-Down Sinners now pouring: “his collaboration with the excellent people at Stigbergets Bryggeri was brewed with a stripped-down malt bill of German pilsner malt and flaked oats, allowing the enormous quantities of hops to really shine. Which hops, you ask? Excellent question. We added Citra and El Dorado hop hash to the whirlpool before dry-hopping with Mosaic, Nelson, and Cashmere, resulting in a seriously turbid 7% beer with giant notes of peach, mango, pineapple, and just a hint of piney dankness. You can snag some at B-mont right this very moment.”

Dry Fields Cider (Redmond) has a new cider just tapped: “4 BERRY DELIGHT! A perfect blending of blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries makes this a light and refreshing summer go to! Also refilled Mangopeño and Salsa if you need a little bit more heat in your life.”
