If you have news or information to share, please feel free to contact me I can include that as well.

The BeerMongers (Portland) is hosting Gigantic Brewing for the second release in its Hellboy beer series, Liz Sherman Chocolate Mole Stout. Gigantic teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to brew six beers in the series to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the comic book series, with each beer limited to 666 cases and most of them with 6.66% ABV. Deschutes Brewery (Bend) announced the return of Humm Zinger, the brewery’s beer and kombucha radler brewed in conjunction with Bend’s Humm Kombuch. From the press release: “Challenging conventions with this cross-category collaboration, Humm Zinger combines Humm’s tangy grapefruit kombucha with the iconic Cascade hops and Pilsner malt for big citrus flavor with a profound dry hop character. This unique play on a Shandy has an ABV of 4.3% and 12 IBUs, making it a crisp and invigorating toast to summer. Is it summer, yet? Humm Zinger releases in early May in 12-ounce, 6-pack cans with limited distribution focused in the Pacific Northwest and Virginia.”

Pelican Brewing (Pacific City) is introducing a new beer for summer: 3 Capes IPA. From the announcement: “Sun’s out and the surf’s up! Pelican Brewing Company celebrates summertime in Oregon with a new beer—welcome 3 Capes IPA. Named for the Three Capes Scenic Loop in Pelican’s backyard on the Oregon Coast, the award-winning brew team has conceived the ideal beer for seasonal enjoyment on the patio or at the beach. 3 Capes is drenched in fruity hop character and long on balanced drinkability—available now in 12 oz. bottles, 6-packs and on-draft. The minimalist approach to the malt base perfectly sets the stage for the bright, citrus flavors to shine. Grapefruit, passionfruit, strawberry and resiny sweet pine all come through with undeniable clarity and focus. This totally quaffable IPA features a clean and hoppy finish, balanced by just enough malt character to ensure that the next sip is a foregone conclusion.”

Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing is releasing a new milkshakey-sounding hazy IPA, Cosmos Coconut & Vanilla Hazy IPA, according to a press release that came out today. An enticing, well balanced blend of fragrant vanilla and coconut brings out the beach vibes, just in time for summer. John Harris, Ecliptic Brewing Owner and Brewmaster, says the brew team has been wanting to create a coconut beer for years. ‘We’re excited to expand our hazy options with this new beer. Toasted coconut and vanilla combine with ample dry hopping to bring the juice!’ Cosmos Coconut & Vanilla Hazy IPA will first be released at Ecliptic’s pub on May 11th. It will also be released in both draft and 500ml bottles throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network.”

Broken Top Bottle Shop (Bend): The April Showers Bring May Sours long weekend(ish) event continues today, with 6 sour beers on tap. There’s a nice lineup of beers listed so check it out if you’re a sour aficionado.

Little Beast Brewing (Portland) announced today the upcoming release of Field Folk IV, the latest in the brewery’s provisional saison series. From the press release: “The beer is available on draft beginning Wednesday, May 8th at 5:00pm at the Little Beast Beer Garden. To celebrate its release, Little Beast is also serving limited vintages of previous Field Folk beers. The Field Folk beers are experimental saisons brewed in the tradition of provisional saisons. Each batch is made with unique grains and fermented with varying cultures, while the saisons are always light in body, easy drinking, and typically under 6% ABV. Field Folk IV has fruity, lemony, and spicy peppercorn aromas that translate beautifully into the flavor. The beer is brewed with Pilsner malt, toasted rice, whole oats, and kamut berries, for a subtly complex malt bill. It was fermented with three different yeast genera– Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, and Hanseniaspora, which is often found on grape must and adds a soft funkiness to the beer.”

Threshold Brewing (Portland) has a limited-release beer out now: “Peach Pit Pale, 6.5%, DDH with citra and mosaic, fermented with a small tree’s worth of peaches. On tap now and certainly through the weekend, just in time for the @montavillamarket season opener.”

Climate City Brewing (Grants Pass) has a new limited edition beer out as well: “Announcing Our Limited Edition Sour Saison! Aged in local pinot noirs barrels, ale yeast, pedio, lacto and Brett. 750 ml only 250 bottles available.”

Beachcrest Brewing (Gleneden Beach) has a new beer alert: “Introducing the Goserita our special lime Gose available starting Friday, May 4th at 2pm. This tasty brew was boiled using Kefir lime leaves and had lime juice as well as sea salt added after fermentation. This slightly tart brew is crisp, super refreshing and at 4.7% ABV is the perfect compliment to sunny beach days, chilling on the sun deck and compliments spicy food perfectly. Perhaps the perfect pairing for the Chili Cook Off this Saturday, May 4th? Come try one in the taproom or bring in your growler and enjoy it on the beach.”
