Oregon Beer, pFriem Family Brewers

TGIF and happy first day of March! I don’t know about you but I am ready for this week to be over, and could go for a barleywine or two… At any rate, here is the news for this first weekend of March, and I’ll be updating this post throughout the day on Friday with more news as I find it, so check back often.

Friday, Mar. 1

Admission into the event is free; tasting packages are required to taste the beers and cost $20, which includes a NEW souvenir tasting glass and eight beer tickets. Additional beer tickets are available for $1 apiece. All tasting packages and additional tickets are purchased at the door. This event is for ages 21+.”

The Thirsty Monk (Portland): The Monk is tapping Brett Brut Rose IPA, a collaboration beer with Colorado’s Crooked Stave Brewing on Friday: “Thirsty Monk head brewer Brian Grace had worked at Crooked Stave as their head brewer for several years and jumped at the chance to work with Crooked Stave owner and founder Chad Yakobson once again. This will be the first of many collaboration beers with Colorado-based Crooked Stave. BBR IPA utilizes German hops rather than the typical IPA hops to impart a wine-like aroma. Hibiscus and rose petals, along with additions of Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, Centennial and Amarillo give the beer a pink hue and floral, citrus and berry-like aromas. Naturally, any collaboration with Crooked Stave will also include brettanomyces.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Sour Fruit Fest continues into the weekend, with the Friday headlining beer being Nectarine Dream. The Barrel House will also feature a live tapping of a barrel of Nectarine Dream at 6pm.

Saturday, Mar. 2
