Latest print article: Monkless Curtain Closer

Received: Monkless Curtain Closer

My last print article came out last Sunday, actually (and I just turned my next one in today), in which I wrote about Monkless Belgian Ales‘ Curtain Closer, its massive Belgian-style “quintuple ale” aged on raspberries and cocoa nibs. You can call it a quadrupel if you want; brewer Todd Clement was having fun with the style name:

“It was an attempt to poke a little fun at a really big, off-the-wall beer — reminiscent of the pastry stout craze but a little more in line with our brewing philosophy,” he said.

It was a limited-run beer and most of the draft is gone. However there are still some cans out there that you can score, and you might want to age a bit: it’s a 12% ABV ale.
