Hanukkah begins today at sundown, so to commemorate the Festival of Lights for today’s Advent beer we turn to Leikam Brewing, a certified kosher brewery in Portland, Oregon, that brews an annual beer for the holiday—Maccabeer IPA. It’s a 6.3% alcohol by volume west coast IPA brewed special for the season. The description says:

A Winter IPA with herbal and piney notes, followed with a touch of fruit. Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity.

From December 1 through 15 Leikam is also hosting its L’Chaim Hanukkah Popup, featuring events, food and drink specials, and more.

Our goal is to share our heritage with the community by creating a space that celebrates Hanukkah and Jewish culture in a welcoming and fun way. L’ Chaim by Leikam Brewing is meant for anyone who wants to experience a different side of the winter holidays. With events, drinks and snacks inspired by the holiday, we aim to create a festive space with delicious latkes and lagers.

All are welcome and there’s plenty of time to check it out and try this year’s Maccabeer as well as Leikam’s other kosher beers. Chag sameach!
