The Brew SiteAdvent Beer Calendar 2023: Day 5: Hook Norton Brewery Twelve Days
There are several notable things about today, December 5! In the United States, it’s Repeal Day, celebrating the ratification of the 21st Amendment repealing Prohibition. In Central Europe, it’s Krampus Night, commemorating the eve of St. Nicholas Day when Krampus visits homes to punish naughty children.
And in England, Hook Norton Brewery is launching the cask edition of its annual Twelve Days porter, the award-winning seasonal known as the brewery’s “Christmas in a glass” — and today’s Advent beer selection. This classic English porter is 5.5% alcohol by volume and the brewery’s description says:
A strong dark brown beer, with a malty palate and nutty overtones, that give way to a lyrical sweetness. A great beer for those long winter evenings.
It’s a great beer to enjoy on the twelve days leading up to Christmas as well as the twelve days after—no partridge in a pear tree required. Cheers!
