Received: Deschutes Jubelale (2013)
At the end of last week (amidst my server troubles) Deschutes Brewery sent out a PR package of this year’s Jubelele, three 12-ounce bottles:
Notably, in previous years I would receive Jubelale in mid- to late-August, so mid-September is a nice change though it still seems too early for a Winter Warmer. That being said, Jubelale is one my absolute favorite seasonal beers to I’m quite sure I’ll be opening a bottle before we’re too deep into fall.
Look at that label too: this year’s artist is Avlis Leumas, and there’s a bit of a story behind the art: “At the time Leumas created the piece, there was an owl living along the Deschutes River in Bend, who had become a bit of a local celebrity.” Yes, this was a thing in Bend last winter. I really like this label; off the cuff I’m thinking it might be a favorite even.
I will write more when I drink it.
Awesome label! It is Bennnnnd! The brewery overlooking the river, the glow of the sidewalk lamps, the Barred Owl, the smokestacks…..great depiction of our great town.
