Oregon Beer News, 10/27/2015

Oregon BeerHere’s the beer news from around Oregon for Tuesday, October 27. Halloween themes continue! As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

16 Tons (Eugene) is doing a week-long Halloween-themed pumpkin beer week at their taphouse, featuring Halloween Candy & Beer Flights: “We’re tapping a different pumpkin beer each day this week and culminating with our Release Of The Dark Ales Fest on Halloween Saturday.” The daily beer tapping started yesterday, but beginning today (Tuesday) the candy pairings kick off, featuring “classic” Halloween candy: Smarties & Sour Red Ale; Candy Corn & Belgian Style Wit; Snickers & Chocolate Porter; and Starburst & Pale Ale.

Also in Eugene today, The Bier Stein is holding a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital starting at 5pm: “This will be the second year we’ve teamed up with Columbia Distribution to raise some money for the good work that St. Judes does for research and treatment. We will be running a keg of Sierra Nevada’s beer, proceeds from which will be donated to the non-profit. This is part of our Tapping Into Community program, which connects nonprofits, beer, and you!”

Pyramid Brewing is teaming up with the Portland Trail Blazers once again on a limited-edition beer: White Pale Ale. From the release in that article: “There are few plays in basketball more exciting or momentum-shifting than the three-point shot. Taking inspiration from the game, Pyramid Breweries recently teamed up with the Portland Trail Blazers to create its newest, limited-edition beer – Reigning 3’s. This unfiltered White Pale Ale is Pyramid’s take on its own 3-pointer – using a combination of Cascade, Apollo and Lemon Drop hops. With 5.5% ABV, this beer rates 30 on the IBU scale. Due to limited availability fans will have to travel to “Rip City” to get a shot of this brew.” Pyramid will also be donated $10 to the Oregon Food Bank for every 3-point shot the Blazers make this season.

Belmont Station (Portland) is holding a meet the brewer event with Bend’s 10 Barrel Brewing today from 5 to 7pm: “We are very excited to host our dear friends and uber-talented brewers Tonya Cornett, Whitney Burnside, Jimmy Seifrit AND (just announced) Shawn Kelso plus 10 Barrel founders Jeremy and Chris Cox for an evening of rare brews from all three 10 Barrel locations.” Check out the beer list pouring here.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday tonight at 6pm at the Barrel House is featuring “Live” Cherry Vlad: “a NW style sour Quad aged in a Bourbon barrel for 16 months with sour pie cherries. 11.2% ABV”

StormBreaker Brewing (Portland): Look for a bottle release at The BeerMongers tomorrow: “We are excited to announce that for the first time ever we will be releasing Triple Double IPA in bottles. Join us @thebeermongers during the Blazers opener on Wednesday!” Yes, the label is a full-on Trail Blazers theme.
