Oregon Beer News, 10/26/2011

Here’s today’s news in Oregon beer from around the web, email, and so on. If you have a particular bit of news you’d like listed here, contact me and send me the details, and I’ll update this page throughout the day based on that and other tidbits that I find.

Belmont Station & Block 15 (Portland): Block 15 is located in Corvallis, and Belmont Station is hosting the Portland release party for Block 15’s Ferme de la Demons, a “dark farmhouse ale matured in bourbon, pinot noir, & Oregon Oak barrels with two Brettanomyces strains and local cherries.” This is a limited bottling run and Ezra speculates that after this release party, Block 15 brews won’t be seen much outside of Corvallis. Also on tap will be Slice IPA, and Strawberry Fields (a wild/sour ale).

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Saturday the 29th, starting at 8pm (and lasting until at least 1am), Deschutes is hosting a Warehouse Party in conjunction with the Day of the Dead Cyclocross Festival (and Halloween) going on in Bend this weekend. At their warehouse at 399 SW Shevlin-Hixon Drive, $5 will get you live music, dancing, food, and of course beer. Costumes are encouraged as well.

Burnside Brewing (Portland) is hosting a Jamaican-themed Brewers Dinner, partnering with Simpatica Catering, on Friday the 28th at 7:30pm. Price is $50 per person and you can make reservations online. With four courses including such things as curried shrimp and snapper stew, jerk poussin, and sweet potato pie, all paired with Burnside brews, this looks to be a fairly unique and interesting dinner.

The Green Dragon (Portland) is featuring the Green Dragon Brew Crew release of “Zombie Juice IPA” tonight at their eponymous pub. Brewed by the Green Dragon Brew Crew (as near as I can tell these are members of the Oregon Brew Crew and is different from the Buckman Brewery also located at the Green Dragon), Zombie Juice is a 7.1% beer that is “A blend of equal volumes of an extreme IPA and a hoppy mild resulted in this somewhat unusual IPA.” Head on down there between 5 and 8 to try it out.

Coalition Brewing (Portland): Wednesday is $2.50 pint day at Coalition, all day long.

Fort George Brewery (Astoria): Fort George will be in Portland on Friday the 28th at Belmont Station for the release party of their “North V Strong Ale” from 5 to 8pm. They’ll be selling 22-ounce bottles of North V (limit 2 per customers) as well as offering it and Drunken Pumpkin on draft. (From Facebook)

Seven Brides Brewing (Silverton) will apparently be brewing a pumpkin beer this weekend (you all know how I like pumpkin beers). From Facebook: “Congratulations to Susan Cook for winning the “Guess the Weight of the Great Pumpkin” contest… Susan’s guess was only 4lbs away from the actual weight of the pumpkin, which was 853lbs… Susan has won the opportunity to brew our pumpkin beer with us this weekend!”
