Here’s the Oregon beer news for Wednesday, July 18. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day so check back often for the latest updates. And if you have news to share please contact me and I can that updated as well.
McMenamins Oak Hills Brewpub (Portland) has a limited-edition tasting today starting at 4pm featuring “Smokey Hopinson Bourbon IPA” (intriguing name to say the least!): “For the July release at Oak Hills brewer Stephen Harper will be presenting this special keg of Bourbon IPA — an interesting beer which showcases a wide variety of flavors. The aroma is a dank offering of earthy, piney hops intermingled with the subtle smoke and oak notes. Take a sip and enjoy the familiar hop bitterness and flavor accompanied by a smooth yet present bourbon-flavored finish.” It’s 6.61% abv and available at happy hour prices all night until it’s gone.
The Bier Stein (Eugene) is holding their third (and final) dual tap takeover today for Oregon Craft Beer Month, featuring Ninkasi Brewing and Double Mountain Brewery in the house: “Help us celebrate Oregon Craft Beer Month this Wednesday, with the 3rd and final Collaborative Total Tap Takeover! We will be tapping rare and small batch beers from Eugene’s own Ninkasi Brewing and Double Mountain from Hood River! Here’s a sneak peek @ the taplist: Ninkasi – ’3 Ring Circus’ (brewed w/Shmaltz and Speakeasy), Sasquatch Legacy Wheat Wine! Double Mountain – ‘Formidable’ (Belgian Imperial Stout), Devils’ Kriek! Sample Flights available. Beers will be on tap all day, Meet the Brewer/Rep. session will start @ 6pm, cheers to Oregon craft beer!”
Lompoc Brewing (Portland): Tonight at the Sidebar it’s Hop Head Night from 4 to 10pm—they’ll be serving up six of their favorite hoppy creations along with free food. “[I]ncluding 2011 Bourbon Barrel Aged C-Sons Greetings, brewed in February 2011 then aged in Heaven Hills Bourbon barrels for seven months and cellared for an additional seven months; 2011 C-Son’s Greetings; Organic Cluster Fuggle IPA; Flower of the Gods IPA; Double Dry Hopped C-Note, dry hopped in the fermenter with Cascade, Crystal and Centennial hops and then dry hopped in the keg with another addition of Cascade hops; and Kick Axe Dry Hopped Pale Ale.”
