Oregon BeerHappy Hump Day! Here’s the halfway-through-the-week Oregon beer news to digest. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Hopworks Urban Brewery is celebrating their ninth anniversary today with a party from 5 to 7pm! “On March 15, our SE Portland brewpub turns 9 years old! We’ll have Organic Wave Train and Ferocious Citrus for sale in cans for the first time. We’ll also have Survival Stout on Nitro for the first time ever, a Vienna Sausage platter to pair with Wave Train, and a corned beef food special as a sneak peek for St. Paddy’s Day. Our brewers will make their way out of the brewery at 5:30pm for a shift beer, so come have a pint with us. Cheers!” BIG congrats to HUB for 9 great years!

McMenamins Murray & Allen (Beaverton) has their Sippin’ in the Suburbs beer tasting tonight from 5 to 8pm, featuring King Jester Imperial Stout, from Oak Hills brewer Dan Black: “This is one thick, dark, full-flavored Stout. Molasses and star anise were added during a vigorous boil to provide more complexity to the large doses of Dark Crystal and Dark Chocolate Malts. This brew is balanced by more than an adequate amount of whole leaf Brewers Gold Hops that lend a bit of spiciness. King Jester was a good guy and lives on with this big beer!”

The Bier Stein (Eugene): Tonight they are teaming up with Claim 52 Brewing to host a beer dinner starting at 6pm: “Claim 52 has gone through a bit of a reinvention over the last year, and we are going to showcase some of the interesting things they’ve been putting out from their brand new 10-barrel brew system. We had an inspiring time coming up with the menu, and hope you will join us for a dinner! Tickets are $60 and include all food, beer, AND gratuity– quite a deal for six courses.” They only had a few tickets left as of late yesterday so get on this if you’re interested!

The BeerMongers (Portland) is holding a Half Acre Beer Company night with, you guessed it, Chicago’s Half Acre Beer: “We’re super excited to pour some amazing beers from Half Acre Beer Co. The final final taplist: Daisy Cutter Pale Ale, Double Daisy Cutter IPA, Navaja Imperial IPA, Benthic Barrel Aged Imperial Stout w/ Coffee & Coconut, Orin Bourbon Barrel Imperial Brown, Vanilla Big Hugs Imperial Stout, and Bourbon Barrel Aged Big Hugs.” It runs from 5 to 8pm.

Portland’s Great Notion Brewing has a crowler release today for Super Ripe, their double IPA: “Super Ripe DIPA Crowler Release. 2 per person on Wednesday. This DIPA 9.5% version of Ripe is double dry hopped with loads of Citra and a special addition of Vic Secret hops from Australia.”

The former Green Dragon, Rogue Ales‘ Eastside Pub, has their latest Green Dragon Brew Crew release today, featuring Pyrite’s Revenge IIPA: “This amazing double IPA is the result of Murphy’s Law and experienced brewing techniques. Originally planned as a showcase for El Dorado hops (aka The Golden One) and Falconer’s Flight we needed to substitute Cascade and Citra due to the intense Portland winter weather this year preventing availability. We are quite pleased with the result! Enjoy this unique beer before it’s gone!” It’s being tapped at 5pm.

Ordnance Brewing (Boardman): Today at their taphouse in Wilsonville, they are welcoming in Portland’s Coalition Brewing for a Battle Of The Better Imperial I.P.A.: “Come pin Coalition’s Dropping Science against Ordnance Double Recoil in a blind taste test. Also, be one of the first to sip on a pint of Coalition’s Two Flower I.P.A. We will have beer trivia, games, prizes, and swag for you!” It runs from 5 to 8pm.

Heater Allen Brewing (McMinnville) is holding their Helles Release Party today starting at 3pm at Interurban bar: “On Wednesday, March 15 from 3-9pm, we will host the release party of Heater Allen’s Helles Lager, a release that signals spring is on the horizon. A traditional German-style pale lager that is also one of the most difficult beer styles to master, Heater Allen’s Helles Lagers are some of our personal favorites. The Heater Allen Helles Lager will be on tap starting at 3PM and the party will go until 9PM. We will also have Heater Allen’s Schwarzbier tap for the evening.”
