Oregon BeerHere’s the beer news for Oregon for Tuesday, March 6th. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day, so if you have some news to share please contact me and I can get it updated.

I blogged just earlier today that The Brew Shop in Bend is getting a keg of Pliny the Younger and is tapping it this Sunday the 11th—and doing so as a fundraising event for the Humane Society of Central Oregon. In addition they will be hosting a Russian River tap takeover (a small one) with five other RRB beers available, and the proceeds from both Younger sales ($10 for an 8-ounce glass) and tap sales will benefit the Humane Society. The tapping is at 11am, be sure to get there a little earlier to get your ticket for a glass of the Younger.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight for their Tap-it Tuesday they are offering up a treat: “Cherry Gose, a one-off Gose project made with sour pie cherries and spiced with Granada cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel.” That sounds amazing, and I find myself wishing we could get some of their beers down here in Bend! The beer will be tapped at 6pm at the Barrel House.

Burnside Brewing (Portland) today is releasing their new Meridian Rye spring seasonal. “Made with the new fruity and tropical Meridian hops it has a nice spicy rye flavor and citrusy peppery notes from Coriander”—at just over 6% abv it was brewed with 45% German rye malt (Roggenmalz). It’s on draft only so you’ll have to swing by Burnside to try this one.

Hopworks Urban Brewing (Portland) also has a release party today for their Galactic Imperial Red, taking place at The Standard (14 NE 22nd in Portland) from 5 to 8pm. They’re featuring $5 pours, a chance to meet the brewers, and freebies being given away. The beer itself is a heft 9.5% abv with over 100 IBUs and is a much-loved seasonal. Don’t miss out!

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend): This week’s Growler Power Hour picks are four beers: Hound’s Tooth Amber Ale, Badlands ESB, Snake Bite Porter, and Shake Down Brown Ale. The “Power Hour” takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6pm, where you can fill growlers with these beers for $5—probably the best growler deal in town!

Beerworks (Medford) is hosting a free tasting tonight featuring Sierra Nevada Brewing, from 5 to 7pm.

Natian Brewing (Portland): Tomorrow they are partnering with Portland restaurant Aquariva for a Brewers Dinner featuring an eclectic four courses of Italian-inspired fare paired with Natian’s ales (a half rabbit braised in chocolate as an example of “eclectic”). Natian’s owner will be on hand pouring beer and answering questions as well. Cost is $45 and it starts at 7pm; call 503-802-5850 for reservations.
