Oregon BeerHere’s the news in beer from around Oregon for Tuesday, February 25 (winding down the month). As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Today is the start of Cascade Brewing’s Tart Fruit Fest Extravaganza which runs through the weekend: The Tart Fruit Fest Extravaganza will take place at the Cascade Brewing Barrel House beginning with the Live Barrel Tapping at 6pm on Tuesday, Feb. 25th and will run through the weekend with additional beers getting tapped throughout the week. Belmont Station (Portland): Their “Pliny Week” starts today and runs through Thursday. If you were one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to this event (good for one of these three days), you’ll get a glass each of Pliny the Younger and Pliny the Elder, for which you can visit anytime from noon to 10pm on your allotted day. If you’re a Pliny fan, hopefully you got in on this! And don’t forget, their Biercafe and Back Patio will still be open to the public.

PFriem Family Brewers (Hood River): Wednesday night at their Pub at 5:30pm they have a new beer release hitting the taps: “we’ll be ringing the bell w/ Dan the Man for our NEW pFriem Hefeweizen! Oh my, fresh banana, lemon meriague & clove. It’s practically Spring in a glass folks! 5.5% 12 IBU’s”

Golden Valley Brewery (Beaverton): On Saturday the Beaverton Pub is holding their “Exclusive Brewers Dinner” featuring a mind-boggling seven courses and 10 beers(!) kicking off at 7pm. Cost is $45 and seating is limited to 50 people, and they have quite a menu posted. Because seating is limited, call 503-972-1599 for reservations before you miss out.

The Lucky Lab (Portland): This Saturday the 1st is the Lab’s 15th annual Barleywine and Big Beer Tastival! It takes place at their Qimby Beerhall from noon to 10pm and they already report over 50 beers will be available (with 25 on tap at any given time). “An event glass and two tasting tokens are just $10 and extra tickets are $1.75 each (you’ll need double tickets for special rare beers).” They  have a stunningly good list posted already. This is one of those epic long-running Portland beer fests that everyone should attend if they can.
