Oregon Beer News, 02/27/2018

Oregon Beer, Widmer Brothers BrewingTuesdays seem to generally be charitable fundraising days among breweries, and today in particular there are a number of fundraising activities listed. In addition to eating and drinking in support of some great organizations, here’s the rest of the news in Oregon beer as well. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated too.

Widmer Brothers Brewing (Portland) is hosting their (originally postponed) Pints for Portland fundraiser today, raising funds for Oregon Brewshed Alliance, at their pub from 4 to 7pm: “Join Widmer Brothers Brewing as we welcome our February Pints for Portland partner, the Oregon Brewshed Alliance. Throughout the month of February, we will be donating $1 from each pint sold between 4-7pm every Tuesday. We will also be hosting a special Happy Hour event with the Oregon Brewshed Alliance on Tuesday, February 27th from 4-7pm where 100% of all beer proceeds will benefit the alliance.”

Block 15 Brewery (Corvallis) has their Dine Out fundraiser at the south Corvallis Tap Room today, starting at 3pm, benefiting Soroptimist International: “Please join us for a locally sourced, handcrafted meal at our South Corvallis Tap Room on Tuesday, February 27th – 10% of food sales from the entire day will be donated to Soroptimist International of Corvallis.” Tonight would be a great time for dinner!

Also in Corvallis, Sky High Brewing is hosting a benefit night for the Heartland Humane Society starting at 4pm: “Dine at Sky High Brewing on Tuesday night, between 4 pm and close, and Sky High will donate a portion of the proceeds to the animals at Heartland! All you have to do is tell your server that you are there dining for Heartland, no flier required. Thank you to Sky High for supporting the animals!” If you also visited Block 15 for their benefit, consider stopping in at Sky High for dessert and a nightcap (or vice-versa).

There are a number of McMenamins locations hosting “Friends & Family Night” benefits today, where 50% of the night’s proceeds are donated to the beneficiary. Check out the McMenamins events page for details and locations.

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at all Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint of beer sold will go to benefit a local non-profit organization. This month the Portland Pub is benefiting The Bloom Project, while in Bend they haven’t posed the beneficiary anywhere online that I can find—but rest assured, your beers today are going to good causes.

Wild River Brewing (Medford) is hosting a fundraiser for the teams of Relay for Life of Jackson County all day today: “Join us for a team fundraiser! Every person who checks in with us for your team will earn you more for your team fundraising! Good for carry out also! Please share with your friends and family. We’ll have committee set up in the front to check you in for the team you are supporting. Wild River Medford will donate a portion of their proceeds from the day and we’ll divvy up based on the number of attendees for each team.”

Bend’s GoodLife Brewing is putting Comatose Imperial IPA into cans! From their Instagram post: “Comatose Imperial IPA cans are in house and we’re starting to get the canning line running, so that means it’s finally time to make dreams come true! We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time and we’re excited to share these new cans with you. They will be available in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho starting this week!”

Belmont Station (Portland) has been nominated as one of the ten best beer bars in the country by USA Today, and they need your vote to hit the top ten. From owner Lisa Morrison: “I am very happy to announce that Belmont Station has once again been nominated for USA TODAY 10Best Beer Bars in the U.S. by USA TODAY. We are extremely honored and humbled to be included among such great bars across the country. If you see fit, would you please vote for us? You can vote once a day on each of your devices! (Hint, hint.) I think voting ends on St. Patrick’s Day. And please share with friends and family whom you think would want to vote for us, too!” (I notice The Bier Stein is on that list as well!)

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is The Rosemary Pear Affair: “a blend of sour blond ales aged in white wine barrels for up to two years, with a late addition of pear juice and fresh rosemary. This beer quenches your thirst with tart fruit flavors and minty/piney herbal characteristics. Make sure you get yourself involved in The Rosemary Pear Affair, and don’t forget: Sour Fruit Fest starts tomorrow!”

Indeed, Cascade’s 7th annual Sour Fruit Fest does in fact kick off tomorrow, and runs through Sunday! There will be “more than four dozen exclusive Cascade sour fruit beers on rotation throughout the week” so stay tuned.
