On this day 172 years ago, December 19, 1843, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was first published. You know the story—Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the three ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet To Come, on Christmas Eve, thus causing him to change his miserly ways. To commemorate this release, today’s Advent pick comes from England’s Wychwood Brewery, and their Christmas seasonal, Bah Humbug.
‘Tis the season to be jolly — oh no it isn’t! At least you can take refuge from the Christmas shopping with this rich, fruity spiced ale guaranteed to make even the most seasoned party pooper smile.
They note aromas of fruit, bananas, and cloves, with spicy fruit flavors, sure to evoke the spirit of Christmas pies and fruitcake. And as Dickens’ tale of Christmas redemption influenced the holiday in England in the 19th century, perhaps a tipple or two of Bah Humbug will influence your holiday as well. Cheers!
