In what I believe is the first fresh hop event of the season, the inaugural Silverton Fresh Hop Fest begins today, September 6, hosted by Silver Falls Brewery in Silverton. This fest runs two days, Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th, and will feature Silver Falls pouring a wide selection of the earliest fresh hop beers to hit the taps (in conjunction with nearby Goschie Farms).

First ever Silverton Fresh Hop Fest. Silver Falls Brewery and 15 other breweries partnered with Goschie Farms to bring you the freshest hopped beers around. Join us Friday September 6th at 5pm at Silver Falls Brewery Ale House for the tapping of sixteen kegs of fresh hop. If you can’t make it Friday, stop by Saturday as we will continue to pour what fresh hop beers remain. Goschie Farms Centennial Hops were used so each brewer can create their own unique take. A portion from all fresh hop kegs sales will benefit Silverton Friends of Music.

There’s no door or entry fee and you’ll just pay for beers as you go—pints, or taster trays. And since these are Centennial hopped beers, it’s going to be interesting to try them side-by-side to compare and contrast how different brewers are using them.
