The 3rd annual Suttle Lodge Winter Beer Fest is this weekend (Feb 18-20)

Suttle Lodge 3rd annual Winter Beer Fest poster

Way back in January 2020, the first Suttle Lodge Winter Beer Fest took place among the rustic cabins in an open air setting at the Suttle Lodge. It featured a variety of breweries pouring beers from the cabins while guests could drink around firepits in the outdoor campground setting; my writeup of that year’s event is here.

Last year, with covid in full swing, the Fest went virtual, with take-home brews and online activities. For 2022, the Winter Beer Fest is back for its third annual iteration, and it once again takes place in person at the Lodge in the outdoor setting, featuring 28 breweries and cideries setting up in the cabins once again this weekend, from Friday through Sunday, February 18 through 20.

Yes, there’s still a pandemic, and accordingly, the Lodge will require showing proof of covid vaccine before entering the event. (Thank you!)

Details from the press release:

The Suttle Lodge welcomes beer-lovers back to its charming Rustic Village for the Third Annual Suttle Lodge Winter Beer Festival on Presidents’ Day Weekend 2022. With 28 Oregon craft breweries and cideries, food, live music, cozy fires and more, the three day Bavarian-inspired outdoor festival offers a full weekend of fun under the pines of the Deschutes National Forest.

The Lodge’s six historic Rustic Cabins will be transformed into mini-pubs serving seasonal and limited release craft beers from all around Oregon. The fire pits will be aglow with cozy fires, local musicians will have toes tappin’ and the grills will be fired up with warm pretzels, brats and vittles. For those looking for a little extra (we see you fancypants), the festival will also offer a VIP Bar tucked into The Den of the main lodge where VIP guests can enjoy tasty winter cocktails.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to our friends at CASA of Central Oregon a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA volunteers work within the courts in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel and community resources to ensure that every child in foster care in Central Oregon can transition into a safe and permanent home.

A NOTE ABOUT HEALTH & SAFETY:

Held outdoors under the pines (and festoon lights) of the Rustic Village, the festival will be an intimate open air experience with plenty of room to roam for all. All guests, staff and volunteers will be required to show proof of vaccination to enter the event.

Even though it’s mostly outdoors and everyone is required to be vaccinated, I would still encourage you to wear masks and practice appropriate precautions if you go. The weather should be relatively temperate and dry through Saturday at least, which helps the “outdoors” part, though Suttle Lake is still on the way up into the mountains so it’ll definitely be cooler than in Bend, so plan accordingly!
