A surprise package arrived late last week from Pennsylvania’s Wallenpaupack Brewing, with two cans each of the brewery’s seasonal Oktoberfest and For the Love of Lager German Style Dark Lager.

According to the sheet that was included, For the Love of Lager is third in the brewery’s FTLOL series celebrating various lager styles; German Style Dark Lager joins Zwickelbier and Japanese Rice Lager, the latter of which recently won gold at the World Beer Awards.

Oktoberfest is a Märzen styled lager, released in time for Wallenpaupack’s Oktoberfest celebration (taking place September 15 through October 2) as well as its fifth anniversary. Unfortunately I’m not going to make it to Pennsylvania to celebrate but I’ll drink the beers and share my thoughts!
