Deschutes Brewery - 30 years logo

You may have seen in recent news posts that Deschutes Brewery has been adding some extra Community Pints days to raise funds for one of its employees, Colby Nightingale, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Now the beer community of Central Oregon as a whole has rallied to help raise money for Colby, with a big fundraising day across the region on Monday, October 15.

I got the press release this morning with all the details, which I’m running here:

Central Oregon Breweries and Bars Rally for One of their Own

Community pub crawl to support Deschutes Brewery employee diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

BEND, Oregon – On Monday, Oct. 15, watering holes around Central Oregon will donate $1 per pint to support Colby Nightingale of Deschutes Brewery, a well-known member of this community who was recently diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

“Central Oregon has always been a special place where people in the business community act more like a family and are willing to help when there’s a friend in need.” said, Michael LaLonde, Deschutes Brewery president and CEO. “We are extremely touched, but not surprised, to have such tremendous support from our fellow beer and beverage colleagues at this time. Colby is entering his fight against this terrible disease knowing he has the strength of an entire community behind him.”

The brewery activated a unique program called Hours for Ours, where workers can donate unused vacation time to a co-worker who needs it and has held multiple fundraisers. Between Deschutes Brewery and other community-driven efforts, including a Go Fund Me page at gofundme.com/colby-nightingale039s-cancer-fund, more than $100,000 has been raised to date for the Nightingale family.

The following area breweries and taverns will join Deschutes Brewery in giving $1 from every pint sold Monday, Oct. 15, between 4pm-9pm (unless otherwise noted) to Colby Nightingale and his family.
