The 23rd annual Holiday Ale Festival begins this week in Portland! The fest runs from Wednesday the 28th through Sunday, December 2, taking place in Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. The cost to attend this year’s fest is $40, and you can pre-purchase tickets online here. HAF is one of the best beer festivals around, featuring many beers that were brewed just for this event—check out the beer list here. There will also be limited-edition beer tappings taking place each day you’ll want to watch for. Plan your visit now! And for a good read on the background of the festival, the New School has a history of HAF here.

Wayfinder Beer (Portland) is closed today but has a new beer on tap for you when they re-open on Tuesday: “Rumination – Farmhouse Ale – On Tap Now. Keg conditioned, late-harvest Saison brewed with layered malts, rye and old-world hops. Spicy and complex. Tastes like Autumn. 5.3% ABV 32IBU.”

Yachats Brewing also has a new beer out, similar yet different: Watermelon Sour, a barrel-aged saison. “A beautiful new beer to our line up, Watermelon Sour pours with a light golden pink hue, and a crisp bright white head.
This splendid sour blend was aged in barrels with fresh local watermelons, and has a crisp sour bite with a smooth refreshing watermelon flavor. You’re not going to want to miss this beer!” It’s 7.8% ABV with 8 IBUs.
