Oregon BeerHappy Friday! Are you ready for a full beer-infused weekend? There’s a lot of things going on, so let’s dive into the news. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Brewpublic’s Killer Beer Week concludes this weekend, with a bevvy of events:

  • Today: the Brewpublic 5 Year Brewniversary Party is taking place at Saraveza in Portland, featuring a lot of great beer and is also a fundraiser for Angelo’s medical bills. Not to be missed!
  • Saturday is the big one: Killer Beer Fest, taking place in both Portland and Eugene at Bailey’s Taproom and The Bier Stein, respectively. Brewpublic has pulled together some amazing beers for this event, and proceeds will be helping to benefit Angelo de Ieso and his medical bills. Bailey’s says, “$5 admission includes a 16oz KillerBeerFest glass and access to some killer beers” and while the Bier Stein doesn’t have details listed I’m sure it’s similar. This is the fifth Killer Beer Fest so I’m sure it will be epic!
  • Finally, Sunday is the Killer Beer Week Recovery Brunch at The Hop & Vine in Portland, from 11 to 2. “As has become tradition, it’s capped off by the comforting hug of a recovery brunch at the Hop & Vine. With a tap-takeover of special one-offs and rarities from some of the best brewers in Oregon, huevos rancheros for days, and fellowship with a close-knit society of rugged beer brethren, this is the final chance (for this week anyway) to hi-five a brewer, sip some goodness, and drown your hangover in sausage gravy in the name of our killer beer community.” Proceeds from this will also help benefit Angelo.

Rogue Ales (Newport) is also celebrating a big weekend: their 25th Anniversary Celebration! “One score and five years ago, we brought forth on this continent a Revolution. Come celebrate 25 years of people and stories with us October 25-27, 2013! The festivities will include Roguesonian Museum Dedication, Premier Pour and Bottle Debut of Integrity Ale, Cultural Trust Exhibit featuring John Maier’s induction as an Oregon Icon, Rogue Hall of Fame Induction, OSU and U of O games on the big screen, and Sunday brunch with Mr. Bill’s Travelling Trivia Show.” There is admission pricing today and Saturday of $10 for Friday and $25 for Saturday evening (though free during the day). Facebook event pages are here, here, and here for details. If you can get out to Newport this weekend be sure to help them celebrate!

Lompoc Brewing (Portland) has the release of their latest Classic Rock IPA series beer today: “This Friday at Sidebar is the release of “Saaz, Nuggs & Rock N Roll IPA…..Is all my brain and body need.” The 6th in our Classic Rock series of IPAs, this is a collaboration with beer writer John Foyston!”

Roscoe’s (Portland) is hosting their fourth annual German Beer Summit this weekend, starting at 2pm today and lasting through Sunday: “We are dusting off Das Boot for Roscoe’s 4th Annual German Beer Summit. We will be featuring 15 German and German-style beers on tap. Everything will kick off on Friday October 25th at 2pm. Taster trays will be available.”

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting the return of Beers Made by Walking on Saturday, a cool event where all the beers featured wild, edible indigenous ingredients. “Throughout the summer, nine breweries across the state of Oregon have participated in walks for the Beers Made By Walking program. Our challenge to the brewers is to take a hike, identify edible and medicinal plants along the trail and use the plants as inspiration for a new brew. These nine beers will be available for one day only in Portland, on October 26th, at Belmont Station. The beers will be on tap all day, and some of the brewers will be available to chat from 2-4pm.”  Belmont Station’s event page has a list of the beers that will be available and what they were brewed with.

De Garde Brewing (Tillamook): They have their big “Red October Bottle Release and Party” taking place tomorrow which looks to be a great way to get a hold of some limited offerings they have coming out. “In the spirit of our next two limited bottle releases, we are throwing a party in the theme of ‘Red.’ On Saturday, October 26th at 12:00pm, we are releasing: Memberships to 2014 beer club, limited to 200 members; Vin Rougie (draft and 204 bottles, $14/bottle, 8 bottle limit); Lee Noir (draft and 708 bottles, $14/bottle, no limit).” They will also have some special “Red” themed beers on tap from breweries around Oregon.

Beerworks (Medford): Saturday starting at 6pm is their Halloween Tap Takeover and Costume Contest, sure to be a great time! “Join Southern Oregon Brewing Co. and Fort George Brewery as we takeover Beerworksrks! Dress up (not mandatory, but c’mon-have some fun!) We will be giving away prizes for the best costume/costumes! Jenn from SOB will be serving “Old Humbug” and “Citra Pale” and Brad from Fort George will be serving “Next Adventure Black IPA” and “Drunkin Pumpkin” Let’s show Brad a little Medford hospitality!” So who’s going as Duffman?
