Oregon Beer, Oregon City BrewingToday is National Tequila Day, so plan accordingly! Straight tequila, or tequila-beer cocktail, or even a tequila barrel-aged beer would be tasting good today to commemorate the day. I don’t know if there are any tequila-related news items for today’s Oregon beer news, but I’ll post them here if so for this Tuesday, July 24. And as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day so check back from time to time.

Oregon City Brewing has its Charity Pint Night kicking off at 5pm, benefiting the Oregon City Woman’s Club tonight: “Let’s help some women! Our Charity Pint Night for July 24th is the Oregon City Woman’s Club. Founded in 1903, it is a community organization dedicated to the community and the women and children in it. Come have a few drinks for a great cause! Cheers, Pioneers!”

Puckerfest at Belmont Station wraps up today, your last chance to enjoy some world-class sour and wild beers on tap until next year. You can see what’s currently on tap online, which still shows a terrific lineup of available puckery beers—if you haven’t made it over to Belmont in the past week for Puckerfest, do so today.

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint sold is donated to a local non-profit organization in the community. In Bend this month, at the Pub and the Tasting Room, the Heart of Oregon Corps is the beneficiary; in Portland, the Pub is donating proceeds to Shriners Hospitals for Children. These are good causes worth supporting, so enjoy a pint or three at one of the Deschutes locations today to help out.

Portland’s Cascade Brewing announced the promotion of Kevin Martin to Director of Brewery Operations. From the press release: “Martin will oversee all aspects of brewing and blending operations at Cascade Brewing. He will be facilitating the production of Cascade Northwest sour ales at the same level of quality that has become synonymous with Cascade Brewing over the last 20 years. Martin will also be working to expand Cascade’s portfolio of beers so that the company can continue to innovate in an ever-changing craft beer landscape and explore new ways to express the talent and creativity of the Cascade team. A homebrewer since 2003, Martin has served as a winery cellarman in Oregon, New Zealand and Australia. He was a brewery intern at Laurelwood Brewing in Portland and went on to graduate from the American Brewers Guild course in Brewing Science and Engineering. He joined Cascade Brewing in 2012 as a cellarman, and was promoted to Lead Blender in 2014. Martin graduated Portland State University’s Business of Craft Brewing program in 2015.”
