Oregon Beer, McMenamins Cedar HillsToday is the last day of spring, so toast the passing of the season accordingly! Here’s the news in Oregon beer for this hump day, Wednesday, June 20. As usual I’ll periodically update this post throughout the day with news as I find it, so check back occasionally.

McMenamins Cedar Hills (Beaverton) is holding it’s monthly limited-edition beer tasting today, with the Oak Hills brewer Dan Black, from 5 to 8pm. Details on what beer aren’t posted, but this takes place at the new Cedar Hills Pub, which had moved across the street into a larger space, so it’s worth a stop.

A new beer festival, the Summer Strawberry Beer Fest, was announced today, to take place Saturday, July 14, at Saraveza at the Bad Habit Room. “Saraveza and the Fruit Beer Festival will reteam for the inaugural Summer Strawberry Beer Fest on Saturday, July 14th at Saraveza and the Bad Habit Room. Featuring fifteen + beers made with Strawberries and the first single fruit beer fest featuring in-season fruit with fresh eye popping and mouth watering strawberries. The lineup includes some of the west coast’s finest and most talked about breweries and will include strawberry food specials like a beer float and much, much more.” It will run from noon to 10pm and cost $10 for the glass and 4 taster tickets.

Portland’s Widmer Brothers Brewing and F.H. Steinbart homebrew supply teamed up to celebrate Steinbart’s 100th(!) anniversary, with a party and special beer release at Widmer’s Pub today starting at 5pm: “Ever since FH Steinbart Co. opened in 1918 – this local and national staple has educated and inspired homebrewers and brewmasters here in Portland and across the world. In honor of such an occasion, we collaborated with FH Steinbart’s to brew thier 100th Anniversary ale, a Bavarian yeast bock – Steinbock to cheers to another 100 years! Join us and homebrewings best on Wednesday June 20th for a birthday celebration for FH Steinbarts like no other. Sip on this malty, toasty and clean finishing bock and cheers with everyone who knows and loves this Portland institution.” Congrats on a century!

The Suttle Lodge at Suttle Lake (northwest of Sisters) is holding its second Wednesday Night Cookout tonight, featuring food and beer with Everybody’s Brewing: “We’re rolling out the Traeger for our Wednesday Night Cookouts on the Big Lawn! Grab your favorite people and bring them up for food, drinks, sunsets, lake vibes, lawn games and sometimes music. We’ll be grilling up local meats on the Traeger and the Beer Garden will have some choice selections from one our of favorite breweries: Everybody’s Brewing they’ll be there too pouring something special for you.”

Bend’s GoodLife Brewing will be at Rontom’s in Portland tonight for the next release party for G. Love’s Special Sauce IPA: “Sometimes the stars align and two forces are brought together to create special things. GoodLife Brewing is super stoked to announce a very cool project with national recording artist G. Love. We are collaborating with him to release a limited edition seasonal release of G. Love’s Special Sauce IPA. The GoodLife Brewing team and G. Love will be partying at Rontom’s for one night and one night only so come hang out with us and meet G! He’ll be playing an acoustic set for an hour and you definitely won’t want to miss it!”

The Growler Guys Portland South Waterfront location is hosting a tasting with Sunriver Brewing today from 5 to 7pm: “Come meet the rep and taste some delicious beers from Sunriver Brewing. There will be raffles for swag, samples of the beer and is going to be a great time!”

Deschutes Brewery posted about a new beer on tap at the Bend Pub today that looks to be a new Pub Reserve beer: “Just tapped today: WASP NEST Brewer’s notes: A Belgian Dubbel ages in Pinot barrels, with figs and brettanomyces. IBU: 17 ABV: 9.1. Get this beer while it lasts on tap at the pub or take it home in a 500ml bottle.” Now that sounds awfully interesting…

Base Camp Brewing (Portland) has a new fundraising beer coming out at the beginning of July: “We are excited to announce the re-release of everybody’s favorite Location Series beer, the OTT Juniper Cherry Wheat! 20% of all profits from the sale of these sweeeet aluminum 22s goes to supporting the Good Work of the Oregon Timber Trail Alliance, dedicated to stewardship, education, and community-building along the trail corridor. We pay homage to each of the trail’s four tiers in this rad brew: juniper for the far southern Fremont Tier, hops for the Willamette, Madras-grown wheat malt for the Deschutes, and montmorency cherry for the Hood tier. It’s so SO tasty.”

Three Creeks Brewing (Sisters) is celebrating its tenth anniversary this July, and tomorrow the brewery is debuting its 10 Year IPA at the Pub: “Join us tomorrow at the pub at 4pm as we tap our official 10 Year Anniversary Imperial IPA! Be the first to try the beer that embodies everything we stand for!”
