Oregon Beer, Portland Fruit Beer FestivalHappy Friday! I hope you’ve got a great weekend lined up but if you’re still looking for (beer) things to do, here’s the roundup of events and news for the state. As usual I will be periodically updating this post with the latest items as I find them, so check back occasionally.

The signature event of Portland Beer Week, the Portland Fruit Beer Festival, kicks off Friday and runs all weekend long! The 8th annual fest returns to Burnside Brewing with another terrific-looking lineup of fruit beers and ciders, for $25 which gets you the glass and 12 drink tickets. “As usual, the Fruit Beer Fest is ALL-AGES and will have some of the best local food vendors, with DJ’s spinning and non-alcoholic drinks and activities available. A glass/cup ticket package grants entrance to any of the three days of the festival, though the Friday evening session will have a smaller lineup of beers due to a limited space. Saturday and Sunday full session includes the full 30+ beer and cider lineup, food vendors, closed street and second lot. This year we add a choice between plastic Govino cup and branded collectible glass. Get a Fruit Beer Fest 16oz govino cup and 12 drink tickets for $20 or a branded 16oz glass and 14 tickets for $25.”

Belmont Station is hosting Bend’s Silver Moon Brewing for the brewery’s F* Cancer fundraiser event from 5 to 8pm on Friday: “We are proud to once again host this amazing fundraiser for the American Cancer Society! We will be pouring Silver Moon’s delicious F*ck Cancer IPA on tap and there will be stacks of the bottles for sale in the bottle shop to take home. This year’s bottle label features the names of cancer fighters! Proceeds from each case and keg go to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure against this terrible disease. This is truly one of our favorite events each year, and we hope you will join us as we raise a glass to all the fighters: those who have survived, those who lost their valiant battle, and all their supporters. Let’s raise a middle finger to cancer and raise some money to find a cure.”

The Mountain Jug (Sunriver) is hosting Left Hand Brewing out of Colorado tonight for a tasting: “The Jug will be having a tasting with Left Hand Brewing Company and Wild Wood Coffee House on Friday, June 8th, from 5:00 until 7:00. Stop by and try some great beer and local treats!”

N.W.I.P.A. (Portland) welcomes Sunriver Brewing for a tap takeover starting at 6pm: “Sunriver Brewing are taking over our taps to kick off Portland Beer Week, with six hazy and dank i.p.a.’s featuring T’Rippin, a hazy version of Rippin with tangerines! Rest of draft pouring will be Pineapple Haze, Parkes and Wreck, Shattered, Emotional Support Peacock and the classic Vicious Mosquito. We’re providing some BBQ for all who attend, cause you don’t want to miss that line up friends.”

McMenamins Thompson Brewery (Salem) is hosting the 21st annual Barley Cup Brewfest all day on Saturday: “This brewfest began 21 years ago when brewer Chris Oslin formulated the idea based on his love of hockey; a passion shared by the late Mark Gunz, Oslin’s Brewery Manager at the time. They wanted to hold the Stanley Cup of brewfests! They would pit all of the beers against one another and the winner would receive the trophy, which would gain height every year just like the coveted professional hockey cup; but the winner would only hold it temporarily before it returned to its home at the Thompson, just like the Stanley Cup. This event turned into quite the community affair, as a local Salem Brew Club would do the judging. We think it’s still a matter of public interest as the voting is now done by you! We’ll be serving twenty different products, including beer and cider from McMenamins and some of our favorite guests! Enjoy our brewfest food specials (Phil’s Fries, Hammerhead Cheesesteak) while you make your favorite selections.” Brewfest Glass + 10 tokens: $17. Tokens: $1.50 each. Brewfest Glass: $4. One token: 4-oz. Taste, 4 tokens: Pint.

In Bend, Humm Kombucha‘s 4th annual Hummfest is taking all day Saturday, an all-ages fest featuring Humm’s newly-renovated taproom as well as the collaboration kombucha radler with Deschutes Brewery, Humm Zinger. “Come check out our new 22 tap system, play fun family friendly games, listen to live music, grab yummy food from the food carts and score some awesome giveaway items!
