Oregon Beer, Portland Beer Week 2018Here is the Oregon beer news for Thursday, June 7, rounding up the news and events from around the state. Three Beer Weeks today! It boggles the mind. As usual, I will periodically update this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often.

Today is the start of two other beer weeks for the state: Portland Beer Week and Medford Beer Week. Portland is the big one, with a kickoff party taking place at the Oregon Zoo(!) which is a new one. PDX Beer Week runs through June 17, while Medford’s is through June 16; I’ll post the roundup of events for all (including the still-running Eugene Beer Week) below the fold.

Bend’s Platypus Pub is hosting Left Hand Brewing out of Colorado tonight for a tasting from 5 to 8pm: “Save gas money this summer and come into the pub to try award winning beers from Longmont CO. Left Hand brewing will be “On Hand” & in house to treat you to samples and talk about the amazing well water they use in the brewing process. 5 to 7. Who can say no to free beer?” Left Hand is just entering the Bend market, so it’s a good time to try the beers out if you haven’t before.

Gigantic Brewing (Portland): Its latest hazy IPA is dropping next week, according to my source email: “The newest beer in our hazy IPA series, Crystal Cloud, will ship to Maletis and Bigfoot next week. Please let me know if you have any questions. We’ve innovated hazy beer by adding a polarized haze, making a doubly hazy beer that appears clear. This juicy and soft brew is loaded with Citra, Mosaic and Crystal hops. Citrusy, tropical, and clearly delicious. 7% ABV. Its science, yo.”

Cascade Brewing (Portland) announced today its new Bee Fest, taking place next week on June 12: “Cascade Brewing is buzzing with excitement to announce its new Bee Fest. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 12 from open to close at its two local pubs: the Cascade Brewing Barrel House, located at 939 SE Belmont St.; and the Lodge at Cascade Brewing, located at 7424 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. Cascade Bee Fest will highlight seven honey beers, including Honey Ginger Lime, Honeycot, Honey Teacot, Mulled Apple Sour (served cold), Bees Knees, Desert Bloom and Orange Blossom; plus an eighth live barrel project –– a Buckwheat Honey Beer –– that will be tapped at 6pm at the Barrel House.” The event benefits Portland Urban Beekeepers.
