Oregon Beer, Cascade BrewingHere’s the news in Oregon beer for this Wednesday, May 29—the month is winding down! As usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, feel free to contact me so I can get it posted as well.

Cascade Brewing (Portland) announced its kickoff to summer with a garden party (as well as a beer of the same name) taking place June 8 at the Lodge: “The rain or shine event will feature beer and cocktails, live music, food specials, games, succulent planting, and information and education about conservation from non-profit partners. The event is free to attend; beer and food cost additional. Guests are invited to dress in their finest garden party attire; prizes will be awarded for the best dressed couple and the best hat. Highlighting the event will be the release of Cascade’s newest sour ale, Garden Party, a blend of sour blond and wheat ales aged in white wine barrels for up to two years with Willamette Valley-grown chardonnay grapes followed by a late infusion of fresh Meyer lemon zest and dried elderflowers. The perfect beverage for any outdoor soirée, Garden Party delivers the sparkle of champagne, the floral delicacy of elderflowers and the brilliance of sweet lemon zest—bringing refinement and refreshment to the party. Garden Party will be available on draft and in 500ml bottles at both Cascade Brewing’s Lodge and Barrel House locations as well as through distribution markets.”

McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse (Hillsboro) has its monthly limited-edition beer tasting today from 6 to 9pm, with brewers rady Romtvedt and Chris Oslin. No details on what beer will be pouring, but CPR usually has a fun one (or several) and you can pair them up with tacos as well.

Worthy Brewing (Bend) has new beer on tap in time for the weekend: “Capt. Nimrod’s Pound-Flail Ale. 30 IBU, 4.8% ABV. Tribute to Chris Hipp, aka, Captain Nimrod, who knew that the secret to success in cycling was finding that balance between pounding and flailing. Capt. Nimrod passed away suddenly on a training ride two days before the Cascade Cycling Classic in 2009.”

Old 99 Brewing (Roseburg) is offering up newly-canned pilsner for your drinking pleasure: “Remember that awesome Pilsner that we make? Well, we named it and put it in a can! Re-introducing Pause Button Pilsner. An ultra refreshing pounder for those summer days of surface of the sun hotness quickly approaching. Here’s the deal though, you can only get them in our tasting room for now. Which kinda makes you the cool person at the campfire when you pull it out of your cooler instead of a C- right?”

Bierly Brewing (McMinnville) has a returning beer back on tap: “Announcing the return of the Rendezvous Double IPA! Come celebrate the official release this Saturday, with Ben Fowler, @tahoepwdrhnd, the recipe’s creator.”

Oregon City’s Coin Toss Brewing offers a new beer you may not have tried yet: “Communidad Mexican Lager is a refreshing amber lager whose Spanish name translates to “community” because we love the community craft beer creates. Brewed with Pilsner malt, flaked rice & four specialty grains. We think you’ll want to drink this all summer long! Stop in for a pint today. 5.6% ABV | 18 IBU”

Threshold Brewing (Portland) has a new beer on tap today as well: “BRUT PUNCH 🥊 IPA. Tart and fruity, notes of summer. DDH with Idaho 7, Citra, Galaxy and Sabro. 6.4%. Go ahead, squeeze the fun out of it!”

Wayfinder Beer (Portland) has a new beer out today to join all the others: “Don’t tell anyone that we are releasing SONGS OF COURTSHIP, a Franconia-style Lagerbier today. This delicious unfiltered pale lager was carefully crafted to celebrate a certain brewer’s wedding. Decoction mash, German Perle & Mittelfrüh hops, and fruity esters, perfectly married. Also don’t tell anyone that we are tapping a gravity keg at 5.”
