Oregon Beer, Gigantic BrewingMondays are slower beer news days but there are still things to plan for throughout the week, so here is your Oregon beer news for this May 7. As usual I will update this post occasionally throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back from time to time.

Portland’s Gigantic Brewing is celebrating its sixth anniversary this week! On the 8th the brewery is hosting a birthday happy hour at the taproom featuring $3 pints, and in Eugene at The Bier Stein there will be a party with a killer tap list the same day. Then in Bend on the 9th, The Brown Owl is hosting a birthday bash as well. Don’t miss out!

McMenamins continues with its fundraising for the Oregon Humane Society throughout the month of May at a number of locations: “We’ve partnered with the Oregon Humane Society to celebrate their 150th year! Visit select locations in the Portland area and get a pint of Muttly Brew Pale Ale, made just for the OHS, pouring the entire month of May. We’ll donate $1 per pint and $2 per growler fill of this pup-inspired Pale Ale sold, giving you an easy way to support the oldest humane society in the Pacific Northwest! Look for Muttly Brew on tap at: 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop, Barley Mill Pub, Chapel Pub, Courtyard Restaurant at Kennedy School, Fulton Pub & Brewery, Hillsdale Brewery & Public House, Market Street Pub, Rams Head, Ringlers Pub, Sidewalk Bar at Ringlers Annex, St. Johns Pub, Tavern & Pool, White Eagle Saloon & Hotel and Zeus Café.”

Widmer Brothers Brewing is celebrating Hefe Day this Saturday, May 12, at the pub: “On May 15, 1986 Kurt and Rob Widmer delivered the first keg of Hefe to the Dublin Pub, and the rest is history! 32 years later, Hefe is still Oregon’s Favorite Craft Beer, and one that helped define today’s craft beer landscape. In 2016, The City of Portland declared May 15th as Hefe Day to honor the 30th Anniversary of Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen (Hefe for short). To help celebrate the occasion, Widmer Brothers will be throwing a Hefe Day party in our North Portland Pub and Beer Garden and we want you to join us! We’ll be pouring $0.86 pints of Hefe all day to help kick off a week full of Hefe celebrations in and around Portland!” You cannot beat a pint price like that. And Hefe is an American classic.

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): The brewery’s annual Hellshire Day & Barrel-Aged Beer Festival returns this Saturday! “Our annual Hellshire Day & Barrel Aged Beer Fest will take place from 12pm to 8pm on Saturday {5/12}, where we’ll showcase 40+ barrel-aged beers from our brewer friends around the country. The fest will feature the release of Hellshire VIII {our eighth barrel-aged beer released under the Hellshire label}, a rare opportunity to purchase reserve bottles from Oakshire’s cellar, live bands, local food and more.” Tickets are available online now for $30, and will be $35 at the door if not purchased in advance. Plan accordingly.

Worthy Brewing (Bend) has a new beer on tap, a radler: “Blazing Radler. 4.8% ABV, 13 IBUs, 8 SRM. Grapefruit takes center stage in this light, effervescent, and refreshing radler. With a lightly tart and bitter finish. Perfectly paired with patios, sunshine, and the promise of warm weather to come.”
