Oregon Beer, Oakshire BrewingHere’s the midweek hump day Oregon beer news, rounding up the news and events from around the state to keep you up to date! As always I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back in from time to time.

Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) is hosting its Oakshire Inspires fundraiser today, benefiting Planned Parenthood from 5 to 7pm: “Join us at Oakshire Brewing Public House for an Oakshire Inspires benefiting Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon (PPSO)! All day, Oakshire will donate $1 per pint sold to us to support reproductive healthcare and comprehensive sex education. Meet and mingle with PPSO staff and supporters, where you can enter our raffle and learn more about our services in Eugene and beyond.”

Vanguard Brewing (Wilsonville) is hosting a fundraiser today for victims of a fire in a nearby neighborhood: “Looking for a way to help folks who were affected by the fire in Villebois Saturday night? Come down and have a pint. All profits from sales on Wednesday will be donated to help our neighbors. Please come down and show your support.”

Silver Moon Brewing (Bend) announced its newest lineup of canned beers this week, its Stellar Series of seasonal specialties. The first beer in Stellar Series cans is Maui Wowie Double IPA. “Originally dubbed ‘Uncle Jim’s Maui Wowie’, this double IPA is bursting with hop character. Chinook, Centennial, Summit and Citra hops pack a punch in this high gravity copper colored ale. Intense resinous, sweet pine, citrus, tropical fruit flavors, and aromas dominate this big beer. Medium bodied and dry finishing = dangerously easy to drink.”

Bend’s Boneyard Beer is brewing up a special beer today: “Today we are brewing up a batch of 4-Finger Quad IPA in honor of the late, great Matt Bonney. The original concept for this beer was to brew something absolutely outrageous for Toronado Seattle and it was! We’ll miss Matt everyday but named our newest fermenter after Bonney so he can be with us in spirit. Rest in paradise, Centaur!”

Yachats Brewing and The Bier Stein are teaming up for a beer pairing dinner on Wednesday, April 24, and tickets are on sale now. Details: “In collaboration with Yachats Brewing, we are bringing coastal culture to the valley in the form of a mouthwatering 7 beer, 5 course pairing dinner! Tickets are $55 (includes gratuity) and can be purchased online. Please arrive promptly at 6:30 pm and make your way to the back bar.” Five courses and seven beers will cover a variety of styles and tastes, buy your ticket now if you’re interested.

News from Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing I missed the first time around (came in when I was “off”): Ecliptic is releasing a new year-round IPA named Vega. From the press release: “Ecliptic Brewing is excited to announce a new year-round IPA. Vega IPA features an always evolving variety of hops with a focus on experimental and never before used options. The beer has been added to Ecliptic’s limited release series and will be available as draft only for the Ecliptic Brewing distribution network. Vega IPA was created both as a way to showcase different hop flavor profiles and to give the Ecliptic brewers a chance to express their creativity. John Harris, Ecliptic Brewing Owner and Brewmaster, said, ‘Vega IPA gives us a chance to experiment with new hops and try out different combinations to see how they taste in a consistent base beer.’ Though the flavor and aroma will change, the ABV will always remain at 6.5%. The first iteration of Vega released was dry-hopped with Cashmere and Strata.”
