Oregon BeerHere is the Oregon beer news and events for Tuesday, February 21. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.

Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting Ballast Point Brewing for a beer tasting tonight from 5 to 7pm: “Ballast Point is always a customer and staff favorite, and with so many wonderful varieties to choose from, it’s easy to miss a few! So we will be hosting a tasting in the bottle shop featuring newer Ballast Point’s offerings: Red Velvet Golden Oatmeal Stout on NITRO w/chocolate & beets, Manta Ray DIPA and more!”

The Beer Party PDX continues their ACLU fundraising efforts today at the Lombard House in Portland: “We are wrapping up the Beer Party PDX ACLU Fundraiser today at Lombard House. We will be pouring Ecliptic Orange Giant Barleywine as well as Commons Brewery Urban Farmhouse Ale. All proceeds from these two beers will be donated to the ACLU as part of the Beer Party PDX. Please come out and make a difference for Civil Liberties one pint at a time! ‘The Force will be with you, always.'”

Portland’s Cascade Brewing is gearing up for the Sour Fruit Fest (which kicks off tomorrow), so today’s Tap It Tuesday is featuring Oregon Berry to whet your appetite: “A live barrel blend featuring sour wheat, blond and red ales aged for up to 15 months in oak wine barrels with fresh Oregon marionberries. Oregon Berry offers flavors of fresh summer blackberries with a hint of lemon peel and a touch of fruit sweetness (7.2% ABV).” Taking place at the Barrel House at 6pm tonight!

Another way to be active in the community is with Deschutes Brewery for their Community Pints Tuesdays! At each of their pubs, $1 from every pint sold all day long goes to benefit a designated non-profit. At the Bend Pub, they are benefiting Action Through Advocacy, “a local non-profit organization helping foster and adoptive families succeed by supporting those who care for and mentor foster children on a daily basis.” At the Portland Pub, they are benefiting Sparks of Hope, a “nonprofit organization assisting child survivors of abuse along their healing journey to find their courage and their voice.” Be sure to get out to one of the pubs and enjoy a pint or three today to help them out!

Ecliptic Brewing teamed up with Gigantic Brewing to brew up the latest in its Cosmic Collaboration series: Star Destroyer. From the press release: “Brewed in the style of an Imperial Schwarzbier and with a nod to Star Wars, Star Destroyer is cleverly styled as an Imperial Darkside Lager. Ecliptic and Gigantic collaborated in 2013 on TicWitTic American Sour Ale, brewed for the opening of Ecliptic. Both breweries knew that another collaboration was bound to happen, but little did they know that a beer brewed to the tunes of The Imperial March would be it.” This 8% abv Imperial Schwarzbier will be available at Ecliptic starting March 1.

Cascade Lakes Brewing (Redmond): Continuing in the drinking beer for good causes theme, tonight at the Cascade Lakes Lodge in Bend they are hosting the latest stop in the Humane Society of Central Oregon’s annual Pup Crawl! “Have a howling good time at a local brew pub during the Pup Crawl and help raise money for homeless animals. Join us for the Humane Society of Central Oregon’s 6th Annual Pup Crawl on February 7, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23 and 24 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm each night.
