Happy Monday! It’s a snow day today across the state—yes, even here in Central Oregon—and a number of pubs and breweries are closing their doors today along with schools and other non-essential services—so any events listed here may get cancelled, check with the location first. If you don’t need to go anywhere today, stay in and enjoy a beer. I’ll still be rounding up the beer news and updating this post today, so check back in from time to time for the latest.

Prineville’s Ochoco Brewing opened up the doors to its production brewery on Saturday (Zwickelmania) and planned to do so again today from 5 to 7:30pm. With the snow situation today I don’t know if it will still be happening but if so, it’s a chance to check out the facility and get some swag.

McMenamins has several Friends & Family Night fundraisers today, where 50% of the food and drink proceeds after 5pm are donated to a local organization or group:

Cascade Brewing (Portland): The 8th annual Sour Fruit Fest kicks off this Wednesday and runs through the weekend! Details: “The 8th annual Sour Fruit Fest will feature more than four-dozen exclusive Cascade sour fruit beers on rotation throughout the week, with at least 25 sour beers on tap each day at the Barrel House, and at least 20 at The Lodge. The event takes place from open to close daily, Wednesday through Sunday, at both locations. Admission is free, beer tasting costs additional. The following beers will headline each day at both pubs: Pineapple Rosemary Sour on Wednesday, Fruitopian Noyaux on Thursday, Nectarine Dream on Friday (with a live tapping at the Barrel House that night at 6pm), Honeycot on Saturday, and Collab Day on Sunday––featuring Pearpawsterous (Upland Brewing Co.), One Way or Another (Bruery Terreux), Chêne Des Fous (Burial Beer Co.), and a sneak preview of a collaboration with Beachwood Brewing.” There will be vintage bottles for sale and more.

Lompoc Brewing (Portland) is hosting its annual Black Out Beer Fest this Friday, March 1, at the Sidebar from 4 to 10pm: “The event will feature two dozen rotating dark beers – including dark lagers, porters, stouts, coffee beers and black IPAs – from Lompoc and more than 20 guest breweries from around the Northwest. Admission into the event is free; tasting packages are required to taste the beers and cost $20, which includes a souvenir tasting glass and eight beer tickets. Additional beer tickets are available for $1 apiece. All tasting packages and additional tickets are purchased at the door. This event is for ages 21+.”

Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery announced its latest seasonal release, Juicy, Clearly Not Hazy IPA. From the release: “Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom is releasing the newest addition to our seasonal lineup. This is a Juicy IPA, Double Mountain style. Juicy’s don’t have to be Hazy, but Hazy’s can be Juicy. So, we set out to make a non-hazy, incredibly aromatic, juicy IPA, and (*gasp) lower on the alcohol. Available in refillable 500ML bottles and draft at our Hood River Taproom and SE Portland Taproom in the Woodstock neighborhood and throughout the Northwest.”

Modern Times Beer (Portland) has a “fresh tap alert” for Warp Tube, an imperial IPA: “This 8.5% pan-dimensional marvel of haze-craft is a DIPA of space-and-time rupturing proportions. Sporting outrageous quantities of Idaho 7, Nugget, Strata, & Citra hops, this superluminal spacecraft of hop discovery boasts a symphony of tropical fruit and citrus which makes for a shockingly crushable enterprise. Available now on draft as well as in 4-Packs at your friendly neighborhood Belmont Fermentorium. If you like to party, we highly suggest you figure out a way to beam yourself here stat.”
