Oregon Beer News, 02/22/2018

Oregon Beer, Imperial Bottle ShopWhile not directly related to beer, it appears today, February 22, is National Margarita Day, so take that into consideration for any beery happenings you come across! And here is the news for thos Oregon beery happenings for the day; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated too.

Imperial Bottle Shop (Portland) is hosting a Perennial Stout Night at their Division location tonight starting at 6pm: “Perennial Artisan Ales out of St. Louis is known country-wide for their amazing imperial stouts, including the infamous Abraxas. We’ve collected a handful for you to taste side by side including: Fantastic Voyage, Sump Coffee Stout, Abraxas 2017, and Abraxas 2016. All beers will be offered by the glass or as a 4-beer sampler tray for $15 (4 oz pours each). We are also popping three bottles of Barrel-Aged Abraxas, aged 12 months in Rittenhouse Rye barrels. We’ll be offering 3 oz pours, so should have about 24 pours available. Barrel-Aged Abraxas will only be available as an add-on to the sampler tray for $4.”

Widmer Brothers Brewing is launching their PDX Pils in new packaging today, part of a partnership effort with Portland Gear, and the party is taking place at the River Pig Saloon from 7 to 10pm. Brewpublic has some detail about the party and the beer: “An ode to our hometown of Portland, PDX Pils is a bright and refreshing hoppy lager. Toasted malts and floral notes are balanced with the crisp hop bitterness and aroma the Northwest is famous for.”

Bend’s Broken Top Bottle Shop is hosting Monkless Belgian Ales today for a Monkless beer tasting from 5 to 7pm: “Monkless Belgian Ales will be on tap for the evening at Broken Top Bottle Shop! Make sure you’re here to try: Dubbel, Peppercorn Imperial Wit, and Friar’s Festivus… And, our very own Chef Ingrid is creating Daily Specials and Desserts with Belgium in mind…don’t miss out!”

McMenamins Barley Mill Pub (Portland) is hosting a limited-edition beer tasting today from 5 to 8pm, featuring Luau Lei Jasmine Ale: “In Hawaiian tradition, the Lei is a symbol of celebration and peace, often woven with jasmine flowers and given affectionately to someone as a greeting, or even as a symbol of love. We offer you the Luau Lei Jasmine Ale, which boasts a golden, light malt body and a tropical hop profile, topped off by the seductive aroma and matching flavor of jasmine flowers. Kamau ki`aha.” Brewed with actual jasmine flower bulbs!

And McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop is hosting McMinnville’s Allegory Brewing today for an Allegory Pop-Up from 6 to 8pm: “McMinnville’s Allegory Brewing is bringing three delicious brews for you to sample. So come check out what happens when the former brewer from Logsdon Farmhouse Ales and Yachats Brewing Co. moves to wine country to start a brewery with McMinnville’s best Publican.” (FYI Allegory really needs their own website and not have their Facebook page be their only online presence…)

Cascade Brewing (Portland) has a new IPA pouring at both their Barrel House and Lodge locations: “Puppy Kisses! This West Coast style IPA was brewed w/Citra, Simcoe & El Dorado hops, and a “mutt” blend of malt. Sweet fruit & malt aromas mix in the nose, where a clean & crisp bitterness rounds out the flavor.”

Arch Rock Brewing from Gold Beach will be in Portland tonight at Sessionable for a tasting event: “Join us for a night of tastings and swag as we welcome Arch Rock brewing to Sessionable. We will be featuring an extremely rare absinthe barrel aged porter as well as other Arch Rock creations.”

Uptown Market (Beaverton) is hosting their release party of Baerlic Brewing‘s Dad Beer Pre-Prohibition Porter tonight from 6 to 10pm. “Hi Thirsty I’m Dad Beer. Come cheers it with a What the Fluff? and walk out with a special mixed 4 pack! Uptown Market and Baerlic Thursday night, what a combo!”

Tonight is the (rescheduled) release party for Gigantic Brewing‘s collaboration with ABV Public House, MTMF IPA: “Celebrate the island life with MTMF, our tropical hazy IPA with coconut brewed in collaboration with our friends at Gigantic Brewing. Our super juicy, soft and fluffy IPA is loaded with Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic and Crystal hops and flaked coconut creating a huge tropical and citrusy hoppiness with a subtle coconut finish. Multi-Tasking at its finest.”
