Oregon Beer News for Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Here’s the Oregon beer news for this Ash Wednesday, February 17. As usual I’ll be updating this post throughout the afternoon with additional news items as I find them, so come back and refresh occasionally for all the latest. And of course, feel free to contact me with any news you’d like to see posted!

Ecliptic’s rotating Vega IPA series is back

Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing brought back its rotating IPA series with the latest release of it’s Vega IPA:

Our experimental, rotating IPA series is BACK with the release of Vega IPA #10! This hazy IPA contains real grapefruit puree (our first Vega IPA with fruit added!) and features Nelson Sauvin and Pacifica hops. With notes of tropical fruit, this beer finishes super smooth with subtle flavors of orange citrus and white wine. This new brew is available at our restaurant today (we will be open from 4-8 pm), and will start shipping to the world [today]!

Do you spot our new sticker on the front of the can? We heard your feedback, and now all information – including the Vega IPA batch number, hops, and style- can be found on these stickers.

Hop Valley’s new “Stash” beer

Hop Valley Brewing of Springfield is introducing a new beer to its “Stash” series, a red ale; details:

Dropping in our lineup is Thrash Stash! Thrash Stash is a culmination of all the Northwest Red Ales we have created over the last 12 years but with Cryo Hops innovation. We dialed-in the perfect combination of six different malts and two types of rye that combine for a light caramel/toffee flavor with a deep red hue in this Imperial Red Ale. Grab Thrash Stash in Hop Mixer as our rotating beer as well as in 22oz bombers.

Brewpublic has details on the latest iteration in Gigantic Brewing’s Ginomous Imperial IPA series, MK 11:

In its quest to brew the hoppiest beer possible, Gigantic Brewing is excited to release its latest edition in this series. Ginormous MK11 goes to eleven on the hop scale from its use of copious amounts of Simcoe, Cascade, Nelson and Columbus Hops. The result is the boldest West Coast IPA available that sits at 7.9% ABV.

The beers in this series change up the hops with each version. Full details at Brewpublic.

New beer from New Spring!

Batch three can’t wait to get in your mouth TOMORROW the 18th! Dave and Jim will be slingin’ cans and kegs of this explosively hoppy 2X HAZY IPA within an hour of coming off the line. Eugene, Corvallis, Albany, and Lebanon get same day delivery. Live in Portland or Southern Oregon…? Worry not! Portland gets stocked Friday, with Ashland and Medford on Saturday. There’s still time to place an order, so don’t forget to ask for New Spring at your favorite independent bottle shop or bar.

Oakshire Dreams big this Friday with new triple IPA

Eugene’s Oakshire Brewing has a new triple IPA coming out this Friday the 19th: A Life Beyond the Dream. The New School has the press release details:

A Life Beyond The Dream is a Triple India Pale Ale inspired by the stories that made us and the dreams that inspire us; Oakshire crafted this beer to showcase newly processed 2020 hop harvest varietals as well as new school hop products to allow us to take the hopping rate to nearly 15#/bbl. Built upon a base of Citra and Mosaic Incognito oil from Barth-Hass and Strata hop pellets, Oakshire takes the beer to the next level with a massive dry-hop consisting of Columbus and Simcoe Cryo-hops and Strata, Citra, and Mosaic hop pellets.

It’s a big beer at 10.5% ABV.
