Oregon Beer, Saraveza

Happy Monday! Valentine’s Day lands this Thursday, so lock down your (beer) plans and open up those chocolate stouts (or fruit lambics). And here’s the news to kick off this Monday, February 11. I’ll be updating this post throughout the day as well, so check back occasionally for the latest.

Saraveza and Block 15 Brewery continue with the Portland release of Block 15’s Bourbon Month this week. “Block 15 is coming back to Saraveza for the Portland leg of their Bourbon Month beer release! This time around we’re excited to have an entire week to celebrate with this phenomenal brewery. From Saturday, February 9th to Thursday, February 14th we’ll be tapping bourbon barrel-aged Super Nebula Imperial Stout variants, bourbon barrel-aged sours, vintage, unique, and delicious beers each day. We’ll be selling bottles of all of the Bourbon Month releases. We’ll have food specials and unique pairings. We’ll have it all!” Today is a special tapping of Block 15’s 2017 Kriek.

Kobold Brewing (Redmond) has a new beer debuting at its Vault Taphouse tonight; from the e-newsletter: “This Monday, I will tap our new Wa-Ha-Ka (Oaxaca) Mole Stout at 5pm. This is a one and done keg, so try and get here to check it out. Five peppers, vanilla beans, cinnamon and other secret ingredients make this a flavor sensation.” Perfect for the snowpocalypse weather!

It’s Zwickelmania time for the Portland Metro area this Saturday! Now in its 11th year, Zwickelmania celebrates the zwickel, the tap on side of the fermenting tank to allow sampling of beer, and participating breweries will be offering free tours, tastings, and more. The event runs from 11am to 4pm throughout the Portland Metro area; the full list and map is here. And both Brewvana Brewery Tours and Eco Shuttle will be offering free bus rides on special routes, so you don’t have to drive.

Buoy Beer Company (Astoria) is releasing its annual Love Lost at Sea Barleywine on Valentine’s Day. From 4 to 6pm enjoy happy hour and get the first bottles of this year’s vintage.

Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider (Portland) has a Valentine’s Day event for you to check out: The Red Fleshtival. “Let us celebrate the rosy hue! Whether you’re celebrating with your love or just love cider, this once-a-year event is for everyone. I’ve curated a selection of the finest red-tinged ciders, from single-varietal beauties made from red-fleshed apples, to an earthy blend of apple and beet.” Starts at 4pm on Thursday.

Migration Brewing (Portland) is celebrating its 9th anniversary this Saturday, coinciding with Zwickelmania. The brewery plans to release half a dozen new beers, and will have live music in the evening.

Ancestry Brewing and Sasquatch Brewing teamed up to brew a tart IPA that is going on tap at Sasquatch tonight: “Rain or more rain, get a taste of summer tonight as we release our collaboration with Sasquatch Brewing! Hawaii 503, our Tart IPA will be tapped tonight at Sasquatch’s NW tasting room starting at 5 pm.”

Beachcrest Brewing (Gleneden Beach) has a new beer tapping on Valentine’s Day: “Coming this Thursday, February 14th just in time for Valentine’s Day our extra special small batch Cherry Belgian Dubbel Ale. Our Belgian Dubbel has been a huge hit in the taproom since it was introduced in December and this small batch aged on cherries adds another layer of delicious flavors to this local favorite.”
