Oregon Beer, Deschutes Brewery

Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Tuesday, January 29. As usual, I’ll be updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And of course if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint sold are donated to a local non-profit. In Bend for the month of January, the Bend Pub and Tasting Room have been benefiting Family Kitchen. The Portland Pub never did post what organization its been donating to this month, but you can still help out by drinking a pint or three.

Oregon City Brewing has its Charity Pint Night starting at 5pm this evening, benefiting Marylhurst School with $1 per pint being donated to the school. “The Marylhurst School is an independent, progressive education community located in historic Oregon City. Founded in 1972, we serve 200 children in preschool through eighth grade. We embrace the creativity, questions and risk taking of childhood in a supportive, hands-on environment. Marylhurst programs are built on an emergent curriculum, which is a way of planning curriculum based on the student’s interest. To plan an emergent curriculum requires observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, flexibility and patience amongst the teachers.”

Two McMenamins locations today are hosting Friends & Family Night fundraiser benefits, where 50% of the night’s food and drink (including beer and alcohol) sales are donated to a local organization. The fundraising night starts at 5pm and lasts until closing. The locations are:

Bend’s Silver Moon Brewing wants you to meet one of its brewers and try his latest beer: “RAD STUFF ALERT! This is one of our amazing brewers. His name is Travis Derryberry. Yes, that is really his last name. Travis brewed up one HELL of a raspberry smoothie sour. So, of course, we had to name it “Derryberry Smoothie”!! Swing into the pub to try one for yourself. Embrace that beautiful man-mane magic!”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Tartini Twist: “a blend of sour blond, wheat and spiced quad ales aged for up to two years in bourbon and wine barrels with a late infusion of gin botanicals and fresh orange zest. The blend features hints of juniper, coriander and lavender with the added complexity of bourbon and fresh citrus flavor and aroma. Our live barrel beers are available on draft for up to two weeks following their tapping!”

The Bier Stein (Eugene) got some very special beers in that you may want to check out: “The much sought after Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen & lambik-O-droom is now on our shelves, and a wondrous spread it is! We have bottles of Cuvee, Kriek, Oude Geuze, Hommage, and the evasive Golden Blend, while supplies last. Limit of 1 per person, max of 2 varietals per person.”

Wayfinder Beer (Portland) has a new beer out you’re going to want to drink: “Clean, clear, hopped-up AF… Relapse IPA is a dank masterstroke of Anti-Hazy™ beer engineering. Extra-bright color and body courtesy of copious quantities of Bob’s Red Mill rice flour; kettle-and dry-hopped with fruit-forward varietels, including pineappley Chinooks from Michigan’s Hop Head Farms; cold-conditioned, krausened and filtered for maximum crushabilty…think of it as a lager brewer’s answer to Brut IPA. TERRIFYINGLY DELICIOUS…14.0P 6.2%abv 55BU”
