Beer TV: How Oregon Beer Became a Thing

Beer TV - OPB How Oregon Beer Became a Thing

Here’s a blast from the past from OPB (Oregon Public Broadcasting), a 12 year old episode of “Oregon Experience“:

How Oregon Beer Became A Thing – Feb. 13, 2019 (originally 2007) – 29:00

Here’s one from our archives. Today Oregon is one of the world’s great places for beer, but how did that happen? It’s a mix of people, culture, climate and environment. This 2007 Oregon Experience documentary explores the deep history of brewing in Oregon from its pioneer roots to the modern craft brew scene.

This is a great bit of history, even if a bit dated as it came out before the explosive proliferation of breweries that we have today. But also it mostly covers the early history of beer in Oregon and Portland, from Weinhard’s through the eighties/early nineties, and covers essentially the same (early) ground as Pete Dunlop does in Portland Beer. In fact, if you haven’t read Pete’s book, watch this episode and then go buy it.
