Advent Beer Calendar 2021: Day 11: Lehe Pruulikoda Sinner Santa

Lehe Pruulikoda Sinner Santa

Today’s Advent beer is a first for the calendar: the first time a brewery from Estonia has been featured—in fact, the first time the country has ever made an appearance on this site! The brewery is Lehe Pruulikoda, which brews Sinner Santa, a spiced imperial stout.

The beer is 10% alcohol by volume and (according to the brewery) 110 IBUs. The site says that Sinner Santa is a “Spiced Imperial Stout full of vanilla, cinnamon and timur pepper”; timur pepper is in the same family as Sichuan pepper, so I imagine this is potentially a spicy stout indeed! I’d play off the spiciness and pair it with spiced cookies or other spicy, chocolatey desserts.

Lehe was founded in 2013, “one of Estonia’s first modern craft breweries” as the company notes, and it brews across a range of styles, as well as some truly unusual beers.

Sinner Santa was first introduced in 2020, and while I don’t know about Santa being a sinner, you might feel a bit sinful (in a good way) sipping on this stout on Christmas Eve.
